Obligatory Sunday Post
Not really :D
Couldn't think of a title, and well, this post is so random, I couldn't find a single topic line to thread it all together.
Yesterday, I had plans to: Clean up my room, go out and chill for a bit alone, drive over to the Four Seasons to get my Bobbi Brown supplies, stop by a cafe and have coffee and read a book in the afternoon...
as always, it was crushed.
Instead, I had to get some errands done for mom, went out for lunch, got dragged off to an afternoon tea with my aunt, did manage to pass by Four Seasons... and got a greeting card that the boss asked for.
The afternoon tea was weird. It's with this young (?) guy that is a friend of my aunt. This is the second time we've met, but he introduces himself as if we're meeting for the first time. I didn't really like the conversation - he's a whiney idiot, doesn't look at people when he talks, only talks about how much money he's saved up... blah. I don't know if it was a set-up attempt, but thanks no thanks.
In the end I did get some room-cleaning time. I cleaned the table off and wiped all that dust. Lately I've been leaving the window open during the day, and it was gotten the room really dusty. It was midnight when I was done with all the cleaning and packing old unwanted things. I was amazed that my age-old portable CD Player still worked!
All that cleaning must have netted me something, no? Here! I found this Gourry model/clay lump that my very good friend Carol made me some... 15 years ago. Sadly it's been 15 years, all the humidity and dust isn't doing him well. I decided to just snap his photo and let him go... poor Gourry!
A few years ago I got him out of hiding again, and showed him to Carol and she said "You're still keeping him? Throw him out!" but I insisted, "it's nostalgic! I'll keep it until it's not holding anymore..."
Sad to admit that now he really isn't holding up. His armor was coming off already and his legs were starting to get wobbly. It was a painful parting.... but it had to be done.
So, yeah, I hope Carol wouldn't be too miffed at that.
And well, it was midnight, and I had to stop for a bit, so I did, and went to bed. The next morning (Sunday), after taking the dogs out and showering and all that, I again started to clean where I stopped. This time it was all those bed shelves. Since they are mainly books books and books, it was relatively easy to clean. However, with 5 rows of books... only one particular row had loads of dead silverworms... I wonder why?
In any case, I'm happy my room is all clean now! Too bad the dog had to jump onto my clean bedsheets before I had the chance to do so...
Backtracking a bit, this was what we saw in the morning dog walk: SEVERE FOG!!!! Visibility was seriously less than 100 meters!
We had to make sure the dog didn't run off too far away, if not, he'd be lost to us as we can't see too far into the fog!
One of the more memorable finds in the Sunday cleaning was this letter from J-Idol Masami Okui. It's dated 1999 and I still remember the whole timeline. I'm not going to detail it out here, but to keep a long story short, I wrote the fan club a letter and the fan club replied me with the artist's signature and a drawing too.
I know it might not have been the artist herself writing or drawing that, but I was a 15 year old kid, and I remember it made me so happy!
Anyway, this letter continues to be kept in that little box :D
Our aunt came over today and Dad made another spiffy dinner again.
So, it was Macau sole and shrimps steamed in a white wine sauce, and in the far end we see asparagus and a squash that i don't know the name of. My Dad spoke the name a few times, but I couldn't catch it...something along the lines of Curjote? just Googled it, I think it's Chayote Squash. It looks like a pear (and the chayote is also known as a pear squash). It was delicious!
Anyway, now i have a mighty clean room, I'm just going to take a quick shower, take a sip of water, then I'm going to cuddle in bed and start reading what I had planned to do since yesterday morning!
