Friday Five 16-November

1. Have you seen any holiday commercials yet?
Not in the US, so this question doesn’t hold much significance for me. But no, no holiday commercials yet.

2. Will you or have you ever participated in Black Friday?
I’m tempted to check out for a deal at Amazon for a new kindle. I just couldn’t decide whether to get the newest waterproof one (2018 new version, so chance for a deal is lower) or an older paper white (which probably WILL have a Black Friday deal as it’s older) come to think of it, I won’t be bringing my kindle out to the beach or pool, so I won’t really need a waterproof one, but on the other hand, if I’m buying something new, I might as well buy the newest model. I don’t know.

3. Do you love or despise holiday leftovers?
Not a problem here, as the Macanese have a dish called “Diabo” (ghost) and it’s practically cooking ALL leftovers into a stew.

4. Have you seen any (non-commercial, i.e. store) holiday lights yet?
I guess they will start appearing in December.

5. Have you been good to Santa’s way of thinking?
I believe in being all-roundedly good and not only good before the holidays for the presents. That’s shallow.

Of course we should be good all year round, that's what I meant. Some folks struggle just to make the effort around the holidays, though.

Oh yes absolutely, I’m just a little against using this “blatant bribe reward system” to teach kids of being good the few weeks leading up to Christmas.

For some parents, it's the only break they get. Of course, one could argue that they've only themselves to blame for letting their children get away with poor behavior the rest of the time.

Oh, our airwaves are full of Xmas commercials, and all the stories are already playing holiday music. TOO SOON.

One vote re the Kindle v. Paperwhite --- the Kindle can do audiobooks, whereas the Paperwhite does not --- at least the one I got in 2015 cannot. So if that matters to you, might want to check that out.
