Sunday Update
I can foresee this is going to be a long post. Bear with me!
Dogs
The dogs have been having a grand time of their lives.
We took them to the beach!
So Woofy (aka Pequi) was like the only dog who enjoyed attempting to attack the waves. Hah. That was hilarious. Those who know him for a while should notice also that he's lost a bit of weight. Easily done without the parents around.
Finally we (humans) went to have some breakfast and since we were over in the Coloane Island, we went to the famous Lord Stow's bakery (a previous post with some backstory here) for a Pasteis de Nata (in hindsight, I really shouldn't, for something I'm going to talk about later down the post).
Anyway, that was that and that was done. (What I'm not going into detail about is, after their beach encounter, we had to wash all the dogs and then I had to change all the car towels, drove the car to a drive-in quick wash place... gave them 100% tips because their cleaning service is so cheap to start with and there were like 10 people working to clean my car, and the boss walked away from the cash register to do the final cleaning touch up too - my Dad's favorite car cleaning place) Since it's Sunday I changed the bedsheets too, the dogs are lucky that they got washed first. If not, there would be hell to pay if they jumped up to my bed in their sandy bodies.
Fitness/Running

So I completed my first Couch-to-5k last week. While I was really chuffed with being able to run the whole 5k, I went out and read some stuff and found out that my average of 9:xx min/km really doesn't do anything, and that it's actually advised to mix running (faster) and walking (slowly) for it to actually do anything good. So, I started a new program which is *points above, right* an interval run. The app reminds me when it's Steady (run) and when it's Slow (walk). This way I have improved my speed. Right now the 8:57 min/km is because on my walks I'm really slow. Next time I do this I have to make sure I am walking briskly.
Weight-wise it's slowly going down. I always kept in my mind my weight at 60kg (that's probably some 3 or 4 years ago), and only until in June when I weight, I found out I was at... 73kg... and it gave me a heart attack. I'm now down to 67kg, so I still have 7 to go to reach my mind's "me back then", but I don't think I'll be all that crazy about it.
Life in General
Life has been good. I've been doing my stuff as required, both at home and at work.
My boss is trying to sell his 5-years Volkswagen Golf really cheap, and I would have bought it if I actually had a car park to park the car. Given I don't have an extra car park, I tried to negotiate with the boss. "Get me a car park here at work and I'll take your car." He was unwilling to budge on the paperwork, so I am not buying his car.
I really need to learn to make photographic proof of things. I had a really nice skin in July! No blemishes, no pimples, almost cleared out the scars. I had been drinking burdock root tea so that had helped my skin condition.
My monthly friend came and left and still no breakouts. I was so happy! I thought I had everything under control (finally!). But then this month, just as my monthly friend came, my face now almost like a volcanic zone. I've resorted to not just drinking the burdock root tea, but I keep the first brew (the "rinse/wash out the tea step") so that I can use that water to dab at my face. (They say burdock root helps to kill acne-causing bacteria or something).
I also think that it's because of that hot spicy fish I had the other day. But then when I started to think on food, I also figured out one thing. Because last month June/July, while I started with the burdock root tea, I also started my diet/running thing. I had absolutely cut out most sugar in my diet. But this month, around the time of my monthly friend, I felt peckish for sweet things so had been having little bites of candy. I did think that for that small amount, it wouldn't affect my dieting (which it didn't), but perhaps it's that sugar that's causing me to break out too.
So I have to say goodbye to all sweet things. For good! So I'm gonig to try for this month as well. Cut out all sugar and check my face.
Travel News
So the parents should be back by the end of this week, and then in the last weekend of August... I've already marked with some friends a trip to Kenting, Taiwan.
At first, when my friends talked about it and it sounded like it wouldn't come down to anything, I had thought to use that same weekend and head off to Taipei to haunt my favorite cafe's and tea houses (Smith & Hsu) and visit some new places (there's this Dayan Cafe).
However, it seems that the whole trip came to be and they have instead chosen Kenting (beach destination). I have no idea what we can be doing there, especially since I've been there already. Okay, the beachside night market street will be exciting, but what to do during the day? I don't want to go to the parks and the eternal flame place as... those were really boring (hah). Flight tickets are bought, 3 hotels booked, pending everyone's agreement then cancel 2. I'm ready to go anytime.
And September is fast approaching... I need to figure out what to do about the Balkans trip. I guess the travel agent will contact me.
