Friday Five 12-June-2020
Friday, 12 June 2020 22:471. Where did you travel on your last vacation or other big trip?
It's gonna be memorable coz it's the last just before the whole COVID19 fiasco. January 2020, I went on a quick trip to Danang, Vietnam for my birthday with my friend P. It was the right call to go ahead and go on this trip despite C bailing on us.
2. What was the best trip you ever took? Where did you go, and with whom, and what made it so good?
I think it's always the first grand trip that makes it good? It was 2012 I think, and I went to the Czech Republic with my good travel friends P and C (usually we go as a trio... and so when C took a rain check for the Danang trip, we had planned to cancel... but then I said "It's my birthday I should be allowed to do what I want" LOL)
3. Where do you dream of traveling on your next vacation when it's safe to travel again?
As a matter of fact, I was supposed to fly tonight... in fact, I would have been in Taipei tonight already for a quick weekend solo trip but this COVID19 has spoiled that... and I'm supposed to have a trip to Osaka next week, but, of course I've given that up too.
Our next big "international trip" target is Russia, but I think it's not gonna happen as I don't see this resolving within Summer and Autumn and heaven forbid I REFUSE to go to Russia in Winter. I do not like snow. If I have to go somewhere with snow it's gonna be on a group tour.
4. Where are you likely to actually travel to on your next vacation when it's safe?
I guess if everything opens up again, my next trip is Bangkok Thailand. I need a relaxing trip with spa and shopping! Danang was really good, but their spas were a little lacking as compared to Thailand.
5. Do you prefer to vacation to new places each time or to familiar places -- or maybe you prefer to stay home?
It really depends on who I'm traveling with... there's one group of friends I'd rather travel to familiar places (J, R, best to Taipei or short-haul trips; C and P best for new places with a lot of exploring; just C for Japan; just P for Europe or foodie tour). For solo trips I'll usually go to familiar places, because, I'm alone and don't want to deal with unexpected stuff in places I'm not familiar with. And there are times when I like to stay home too. Though usually I get crazy very soon because it's boring, LOL.
