Been a while!

Hello! I was a bit under the weather over the weekend past, despite it being Dad's birthday. I got hit with a relentless migraine since Friday and no matter how much I sleep or relax I'm just not shaking off that migraine. I spent Saturday in bed all day then got pulled out of bed at night to have Dad's birthday dinner over at the revolving restaurant at the Macau Tower.

Amazing night view up there, but I just didn't have the mood for any extravagant food. It's all dark on that photo but if you see the river, then anything above the river is China, and anything below the river is Macau.

This is gonna be such a random post LOL.

So a friend told me that a 3-month old French Bulldog puppy sells for MOP$20,000 over here. That's around USD$2500 or a little less than that. So our Frenchie has a new Chinese nickname. He's Mr. Twenty-Thousand now sometimes... I posted on Facebook with a message of... paying $20,000 to bring the devil into your home... just don't! But that just shows another thing about Macau. I mentioned once, people are rich enough to live comfortably, but people are not rich enough to afford an apartment? This is one of the things that happen. People have money to just fling it out and buy an expensive dog, then just ditch the dog when they think it's too much work. In case you aren't aware, we simply picked Frankie off the street. There's poodles and huskies that labs and goldens that are abandoned in a similar fashion.

Of course, there are the prestigious breeds, and there are the riff raffs. Kitty here is what I think is considered an American Shorthair, meaning just a... erm... mongrel for a cat, I think? She has the markings of a Bengal cat but I don't think she's a Bengal. We usually call this type of cat 士多貓 (Store Cat), in that a lot of (old) stores (more like tuck shops, oh wait, maybe stalls too!) had a cat or cats in them to help catch mice.

My friend's bakery had some leftover cakes today (they close on Wednesdays) so she told me to go pick up some cakes. I buy from her sometimes as well, but i didn't want to seem like taking advantage of her and only taking cakes when she gives me for free, so I just chose 2 cakes. The lion looking on is Leo, a hazelnut and banana cake (yummy!) and the other one is a blood orange cheesecake (yummy!)

Lastly, I went for dim sum for lunch today with my colleagues and there's one classic dim sum dish called 鹹水角... I can't really dissect and explain what it is LOL.... it's got a deep fried glutinous rice outer layer and the stuffing is... I never know what the stuffing is. Pork I guess. Anyway, this time I see on the menu they are called 恐龍鹹水角 (meaning... Dinosaur 鹹水角), I thought it sounded hilarious so ordered it. THEY CAME IN A DINO SHAPE!

Needless to say, my friend wants to have that too, so I'm going again on Friday, but with this friend (with the pastry shop). I've already mentally narrowed down what to order: all the "cartoon" dim sums that they have... LOL I think they have a curry crab tart and a hedgehog sweet bun. Maybe they still have the carp fish coconut pudding. We'll see on Friday!
