Where am I?
Friday, 3 December 2021 17:16There were 2 conversations or communication exchange yesterday, that has me questioning my existence, or the reality that I think I'm in.
Just before I got off work yesterday, my colleague, who previously was my supervisor (now we're like, same level, but different Bosses) walked by to return some "rejected documents", but the documents had been lying around for a year.
Like............ helllloooooo??? Rejected for a year and you only pass me back now?
oh, and an interesting conversation. I must have mentioned a few years ago (probably around 10 or so years ago) that this same supervisor had scolded me many times with such golden phrases as "Just because you've spoken to me about it and I've replied with an OK doesn't mean I was listening to you or paid attention to what you said!"
okay....?
The conversation last night was much in the same vein, without the scolding though. She told me about the rejected documents. I asked a few questions back. She saw my braces, and asked "oh, when did you start putting braces on?"
A million things went through my mind. I had talked about the braces 6 weeks ago, and you even said your daughter had to get braces as well.......?????????
But I just answered, "huh, I thought you knew. When we had lunch with who-and-who last month I had already started."
"Oh, was it? I didn't notice?"
Erm... there was a whole conversation of how the fixture for hooking the elastic band is digging into my tongue and I couldn't eat solids....????
But then I remembered her golden phrase (just because you've spoken to me about it and I've replied with an OK doesn't mean I was listening to you or paid attention to what you said." And some people wonder why I have issues. Huh.
Another exchange was with my subordinate-from-the-other-project. I will be frank and say I heartily dislike her, but I also try very hard to treat her fairly, and not like how my supervisor used to treat me.
So I've assigned the team with some exploratory research work, and asked my preferred girl to be the project champion. She assigned the tasks, and had a very clear deadline. Thursday 2 December 2021. No matter how you read it it, it is 2 December, or December 2nd, and even just plain old Thursday.
2 girls submit something at around 4ish pm (thank you for giving me around 2 hours of office time to read it), but not that one that I dislike. She sent in her work at 6.30ish pm (work day ends 6pm). She kind of whined a bit with a "i thought the deadline was tomorrow, so i haven't finished my part of the research."
I saw red, I'm sorry to be so easily triggered.
I'm not judging her on the work done (which, if I were to judge, was really poorly done), remembering dates and deadlines is just one of the most basic things of basic things to remember. She's an admin. She sits on the computer all day. She has a phone. She needs to handle the Time Machine (for clocking in and out of work). SHE HAS REMINDERS FOR DATES EVERYWHERE!
I'm going to wait a week and then ask the 2 offices to submit this year's pest control schedule. I asked about it to the one i disliked, and she said, full of confidence "The Quarterly Pest Control is done 3 times a year. It's written on the contract".
Huh. I wonder what quarterly means.
I don't follow the intricate paperwork's of those offices, but from my memory, the contract states the price is for doing the pest control 4 times a year. We don't HAVE to do it 4 times a year, but then the price would be adjusted.
I'm so tired of having to lord over her. I had hoped she would grow and develop and be able to run her own office, and when I check in 3 quarters of the year in, she apparently has been slipping for the entirety of it. And before you say I should check her more regularly than once a year, she's supposed to be learning from the other girl. The 2 offices shared one cleaning contract, so when the girl from the main office did a pest control, then the other would need to do one. But this year, the main office got moved away, and the cleaning contract got split off, and it seems without the main office doing something first, she wouldn't know what to do. *sigh*
Ah.......... and then there's all that drama with the charity thing I'm volunteering for. Why is there so much drama in my life?
