Thursday Morning Rambles
Thursday, 12 May 2022 09:15We've got the Yellow Rainstorm Signal, and Thunderstorm Warning in force right now. I'm having breakfast and waiting for the rain to ease up a bit before heading off to work.
Days like these, it's actually better to walk than take any sort of transport, private or public. The streets are gonna be jammed. Totally.
And yet, people are being disgusting and sending messages around saying "why can't they issue a Black Rainstorm Signal, so classes and work can be cancelled?" And all that rot. You would think, after Typhoon Hato in 2017, people would shut up about hoping for natural disasters so that school gets cancelled?
Anyway, on cheerier thoughts!
Apparently this is how Frankie spends his days whe I'm at work. Lounging in the living room and watching TV. Hm....
Oh yeah last month or so, I bought a mini palm tree. At first with the silly thought of, if I get a LIVE palm tree, then we don't need to go to Church to get palm leaves on Palm Sunday, and then one year later when it dries out, go get another one. Granted, the Church ones are blessed. I totally forgot about.... they would collect the dried palm leaves and burn them for the ash for Ash Wednesday. All silly thoughts aside, I never knew HOW CUTE NEW PALM LEAVES GROW OUT!!!!
I had heard of Black Garlic a couple years back. My Dad got interested and looked around and got some. Then he looked around more and found out it doesn’t really have any much more health benefits, it’s just the marketing jargon and whatnot. Since then I’ve put “Black Garlic” off my mind. However, recently, my colleague at work got some and was touting all the health benefits and all that. Guess the “fad” has finally chased up? I didn’t want to burst her bubble, so I just let her babble out all the good stuff. Then when she gave me one, I took it. *shrugs*. It's black. It's, not quite bitter... I guess the word is tangy? A bit sharp.
And I shall close with a new menu item I explored at the company coffee shop. It's a bit out of my daily meal allowance (so I need to co-pay like $20 my money... maybe around USD $3). Oh, and then Dad again made some Apfelstrudel and served us vanilla ice cream... of course, we need pumpkin seed oil for that! That reminds me, I need to contact that company and see if they do small-orders.
