I'm a tad bit annoyed today. I had hit a bit of a... I've done everything I need to do at work, so there was just nothing to do at the moment... and so I took my phone and wanted to scroll around Facebook to see what my friends are up to.

So... one of my besties, P, is on a quest to clear out her shelf, I guess. I saw her post a few times on a Facebook group about books to give away for free.

I guess it's all well and swell because, I also need to go through my books and see what to give away. But, from her post, I noticed 2 books. Anne Rice's The Vampire Armand and The Vampire Vittorio. A funny side story/history of my time with the Armand book... when I first started reading it (before the vampire craze), I found it icky and ugh... and... just not my cup of tea. Too much inappropriate touching. Then I got older, figured I should read it to finish it. Yeah gay vampires and all that, but the key takeaway I got from the book was... Armand is a prettyboy. Armand is an angelic cherub-looking red-haired pretty YOUNG boy. So yeah. Imagine when I watched the actual Interview with the Vampire and they had Antonio Banderas play Armand and was a total mismatch to the image I had of him. I'm not saying Antonio Banderas is not a pretty boy, but he's not Armand-type pretty boy.

Totally went off tangent LOL.

Anyway, when I saw my friend's post, I looked at the 2 Anne Rice books and I admired the plastic wrapping of the book cover. A nano-second later, "hey those are MINE!"

This comes to my other annoying... character. I'm a generous lender. I lend people things, and I don't particularly like to chase stuff back. I remembered I had lent P the vampire books (she wanted to read Anne Rice) and then we all forgot about it. Coming to think of it, just before graduating to secondary school, I lent 1 Utada Hikaru CD to a classmate and she never gave me back the CD. She's now in the UK I think. Granted, I can easily download the same CD now, but... it's the principle of it!

So I just touched base with P. "Hey can you check the inside of the book? I must have written my name somewhere. I remember the book wrap."

If I'm to giveaway my books, it's going to be in my terms!

I'm also trying to convince myself my laptop is very nice. I even have decal on it. It's still usable. I still use it every day. It's a MacBook Air!

But I recently came across an ad for the new MacBook Air M2. They look so pretty.... so much harddisk space! And the RAM! The retina display! I'm really partial to the Midnight. It's slightly larger than my current MacBook Air (yeah... mine is a 13.3", this one would be a 13.6".... real big difference, kat!)

I looked around. My 2010 MacBook Air is not eligible for any credit, so I can't trade in to upgrade it. So. I am trying to convince myself I don't need to buy a new one. I'm constantly chanting "睇咗當買咗" (Pretending to have bought it after looking at it).

The thing is, if I buy it, I know what's going to happen with the old one. I will keep it "just in case" instead of getting rid of it (reformat the whole thing, then sending it back to Apple). I know that because I still have EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY OLD PHONES since Nokia 3310. They are being kept somewhere, but I still have every single one of them. I may not have the right charger, the batteries must have busted, but yet, I keep them corpses for however long time.

Big roundabout way to say I'm a pack rat LOL.

And then, if I don't buy it, I'll be thinking about it thinking about it thinking about it and then find reasons as to why the old one should retire (it's over 10 years! One USB port is busted! Battery life sucks!). But I'm also somewhat rationale. I don't heavy-duty use the laptop, so the old one is good enough! But I've been soooooooo good with my finances lately, I should be able to reward myself!

So I've decided on a compromise.
In 6 months. I'll buy it for my 40th birthday.

(Fervently hoping I'll actually forget about it and then not buy anything).
