Life goes on

It's very cliche to say so, although up to a point it is true. But things just aren't the same.

I'm still sleeping in a single bed (partially due to the default shape of my room) and all these years I've been complaining about how such a small dog (7kg Dachshund) could take up so much space. Well. Now the bed is way too big.

I happened to use a black shawl the other day as we went to some mall that I knew had strong air conditioning, and later left it on my bed when we got home. After my shower, my heart skipped a bit as there was a black shape on my bed. It was just the shawl.

I'm somewhat influenced by Chinese beliefs (though I'm not sure if this is a Chinese belief), but they say the soul returns home for a visit after 7 days. I was hoping to see or dream of her last night. Nothing.

I'm sleeping through the nights now since there's no request to be put on the ground and then back up on the bed at 2am and 5am, so I suppose that's a good thing.

Cremation is on Sunday, day after tomorrow. We decided not to use the municipal services because since covid they've disallowed witnessing the cremation. So we went to a private company. They're pretty professional, I guess. They collected the body, and harvested DNA, hair, and a digital cast of the paw. It's so that when we are at the pet funeral home/crematorium we can choose to buy the souvenirs that may use those things. I'm a bit curious what they can do with the DNA harvested, but I don't think I'll buy any souvenirs. I don't know. Will just see what they have first, since now the lab-grown diamonds are out of my budget range.

I checked the service for growing a diamond from ashes, and prices have more than doubled. In 2020, it was some MOP 21k (USD 2610) to grow a 1 carat diamon. The price list now sits at MOP 46k (USD 5720) to do the same. It was a bit of a stretch but I could still afford that in 2020, but the new price now is just impossible.

On the way home today I saw a sparrow sitting in the motorcycle parking area. It was raining today, so either it got washed off the nest, or it rained too much so it was tired or something. Tried to catch it, caught it on the 3rd try. One time it flew quite high but then just dropped to the ground. I put it in a box and took it to the vet. They're going to put it in a... incubator? Heater? Anyway, they will take care of that.
