The LONG AWAITED Bangkok post!
There isn't really much to write about as we didn't really do much per se, just shopping around.
Day 1
So we went to the Airport in Macau with plenty of time to spare. Air Asia flight was relatively good - no delays, not bumpy, no turbulence. I spent the flight reading (Life of Pi if I'm not mistaken)
So we landed, went to change some cash, and then went on a taxi to our hotel, which, in hindsight, is a little far off. Would have been better if we'd chosen some place more central.
Anyway, our first stop was to Terminal 21, a shopping mall with different "country themes" for each level. Consequently, each themed toilet is different. So we sort of went on a toilet tour.
Eventually, we reached Let's Relax, which is a spa place conveniently located in the same mall. We had booked for 6pm but as we were early we asked if it was OK to go early and they said yes... so we went for our spa 2 hours earlier.
I didn't like the whole experience. In Phuket, the masseuse were quite skilled in that they would not let the guests see each other naked, no matter what. Here in this one in Bangkok, they actually asked us to walk around naked. Essentially, in the end, they're going to see us naked anyway, but well, it's the service.
After that, we went to hunt for some dinner, but when we reached a certain mall that had a restaurant we planned to go inside, was under renovation... so we had to hunt somewhere else...
In the end, we bought ready made food in Big-C (HUGE hypermart type supermarket) and ate in the hotel. Not good at all!
Day 2
The day we did something touristy. We went to see the Palace and went on a boat trip, visited a temple or two and saw a huge sleeping Buddha. Lunched at some mall then went to another mall and did some more minor shopping. We wanted to leave the place for China Town, but then it started to pour, so we gave up on that thought, and kept on shopping in the mall, called Central World (or something along those lines)
Day 3
First thing in the morning is one more spa, this time at Divana. Once again, I didn't like the "you're friends you can sure show up naked to your friend" thing... but heh... this was some sort of full course spa, so we got all the steam room, massage, scrub, milk bath... I just felt so very hot... I sweated a lot, both in the steam room and in the milk bath as well. All in all, I didn't quite like that, sorry to say so!
In the afternoon we went to another mall called Platinum Fashion Plaza (or something along those lines) and that is where we found out, a trip to Bangkok is never complete without visiting this place. It was crazy. Shop after shop and row after row of shops. Each selling different stuff, and no two shops sold the same thing... it was amazing... 2 floors for accessories, 3 floors for clothes and 2 floors for lingerie and make up...
One afternoon wasn't enough for us, but time is tight! Shops started closing so we later headed on to China Town for some food and then back to our hotel.
Day 4
I was in a very difficult position because... I wasn't able to stuff all my shopping into my bags. Still, we went to Chatuchak market... another wonderful shopping place. Again, I scored a number of items there, but, I knew my baggage was full, and couldn't stuff anything anymore, and... what did I do? Buy a second bag to go home with. And buy a bag I did.
In the airport, we had our last dish of Mango Sticky Rice and boarded the plane and went home.... and thus the fun ended...
