Thank you :-) I had an English education so it’s easy for me to express myself in English. Just some words that’s hardly used around here that I have a problem knowing (such as... fruits, like the Sharon/persimmon thing from the other day)
I speak Cantonese fluently (if I’m talking on the phone, the other person thinks I’m a local Chinese.... until they see my Caucasian face LOL). I never studied Chinese at school though, so I’m weak on the reading and writing part. Nowadays I can read a lot better because I put effort and did a 2 year supplementary course... and writing is easier nowadays because Siri/text to speech is a saviour. But I still can’t really compose a Chinese letter, because Cantonese Chinese in spoken form is not the same as in written form. (Unlike mandarin, what you speak is what you write). Anyway, I know enough to survive the working world, so I’m happy about it.
