It's interesting to read the reasoning for people having multiple banks in Macau. In China people have multiple banks too. Apparently there it's also for ease of transfer - they get a new bank account for every job. I never heard of anything so ridiculous. You'd think in a country that created Alipay it would be easy for an employer to direct pay into any employee bank account.

On freezing funds, although Chinese government is probably more likely to do this to people than foreign governments, in theory they (just like foreign governments) should only do it if you are a criminal or flagged for some reason. So i suppose if you are living under the radar for the most part it should be okay.
