Hello Hello! It's SATURDAY! And as usual, I have way too many photos to share, so they will go under a cut.
The plants grow light blinded me at 6am. They are on a timer, and they're supposed to light up at 7ish am, but there must be something wrong with the timer of this set of lights. I have 3 sets of such lights, all timed to switch on at the same time, but this set just seems go off earlier and earlier everyday... and now it's at freaking 6am.
I go about my usual ablutions. There was an incident with a faulty eyeliner. I bought a new one yesterday, I tried the tester and thought the ink flowed quite well... but when I tried to use it on my eyes, nada. Shook the liner like mad, tried it on the back of my hand, the ink flowed choppily. Meh.
While the human has such a terrible morning, Sai Lup of course, continues to enjoy his lie-in *rolls eyes* LOL
The usual in my household every morning... dog walk, and then dog breakfast.
Then it's my breakfast. Since I'm still on those elastic and braces for my teeth, I'm trying to eat liquids still. I could chew if I need, but psychologically I think that if I chew too much, I'm just pushing those 2 teeth back in their original place, which is not something I want to do. And since I'm just having liquids, I'm trying to make it a little more nutritious, and now am mixing my shakes in nut-milk instead of water. I play an easy game of solitaire as I have my breakfast.
I get ready to go out.
Ah, I make fun of the pretentious youngsters with their Starbucks and Apples. Guess what, I'm also pretentious, and yes, I make fun of myself too. I have a, I don't know, Labour Department mandated occupational safety test thing coming up on Monday. I've read through all the materials already, so now I'm just doing mock tests over and over again.
I do some mock tests and English, I do some mock tests in Chinese, just to make sure I understand both. I got stumped by a few questions in Chinese because I wasn't familiar with the industry jargon. I did a few mock tests, passed them all, until the server from the Labour Department died. Geez.
So then I watch this Nicos Weg thing from DW that my German teacher suggested. The story is a tad on the stupid side LOL. How can you leave your bag so far away from yourself? LOL. These are like 2-minute videos and you have to answer all the questions from that video in order to gain access to the next video. It's brutal.
I promised the parents I would return and have lunch with them, so I made my way home.
Mom was taking longer than usual, so I started reading this German book the German teacher has kindly lent me. I can guarantee, I will take more than forever to finish this.
Still, Mom wasn't ready, so I uprooted my crabapple tree, because I had planned to repot it, and got a small shock that there was white fungus-like spots in the soil. Guess I've been over-watering that? But the lady told me to keep the soil moist always. Anyway, I had to let the roots dry a bit first in order to be able to remove more of the soil trapped in the roots.
Finally, Mom was ready for lunch. We went out, they asked me what I wanted, I said we can go anywhere, and I will go through the menu to see what I can eat. In the end we settled on this restaurant that served Burmese (Myanmar), Vietnamese, and Thai food. I ordered myself a Mohinga. It's a Burmese Fish Soup with some noodles and a bit of fried bread sticks and some sort of cracker thing. I dunked them all in the soup to make them soft. It was nice!
Back home, the roots dried a bit, I was able to remove the trapped soil, and finally repotted the crabapple tree. Then, I saw movement in the corner of my eye, and got the fright of my life. Nutmeg jumped up to the parapet. Normally we don't worry too much, because the cat is not so stupid as to jump over (we live on the 5th floor, technically it's the 6th floor), however, I saw a butterfly flying around, and this cat is prone to chasing butterflies, so I caught her and carried her back indoors.
I then decided to go out for a bit. Right smack in the city center, they are setting up this year's Christmas Tree. Since it's pink, and it looks like flowers from a plum blossom tree or a cherry blossom tree, I guess they are going to keep this "Pink Christmas Tree" through until Chinese New Year and possibly even March. Just opposite is this big screen for the Grand Prix, because, this weekend is Grand Prix weekend in Macau. The area where the race track is that would probably be packed and noisy, and I did not go there. I actually hate the Grand Prix, so, I'm not going there.
I make my way to another square where I heard there's an Art Fair/Flea Market sort of thing going on.
So, it's a Craft Market, which is a sham. There are some stalls that sell handmade and crafty products, but most others are just selling factory produced things, or just retail selling things they got in wholesale from China.
I had to go to a shop to pick up some online order I made, and I was hoping to get some moss to put on that repotted crabapple tree, so made my way to the area that would have more florists and flower/plant shops... on the way, is this super cute Pikachu in an all-gacha shop.
This is another area in Macau and is known as the Three-Lanterns area, because, long long time ago, in this square, there was a lamp-post with three lanterns. The lamp-post you see here can technically be said to be "three" lanterns, as the fourth one is up there apart from the other three... but I digress. They set up another stage for the live TV of the Grand Prix. Gee. Come on, the city isn't even welcoming foreigners to enter, so all the good foreign teams are out, it's hardly exciting.
I passed by 6 flower shops and NONE of them had moss! I guess it's the wrong season. I tire out and decide to take a bus home. An old lady (Chinese) seem to have that racial discrimination mentality that I am non-existent (there are some old-school Chinese that would consider foreigners non-existent) and she cut my queue as I was going on the bus. It's fine. She can get in. The bus was full and she didn't get a seat anyway.
Oh, I always wanted to post a photo of this entryway to a "patio". "Patio of Illusion". There was an iconic photo of this doorway with a duck (a regular real-life white-colored duck, as far as the black-and-white photo showed) standing right in the middle. Well.... since live poultry are not allowed in town anymore, so I will never get this duplicate shot LOL. But you can imagine a duck in the middle.
Ah yeah, the thing I went to pick up was this Passion Fruit syrup drink thing. I bought one last year and it was rather a hit in the family. Then I saw the shop posted they got a restock, but an American import instead of a Korean import of the same brand. I should check if the American version has a higher sugar content or not, seems to be the case in most everything.
I also went to pick up my Taobao orders and one of them is this hind leg harness for Sai-Lup. He's not steady on his hind legs as he had a cruciate ligament rupture a few years ago... he seems to be getting more and more unstable lately, so I hope this thing can help him... but first he needs to learn to walk with this thing.
Oh, and I also picked up these magnet things. I had bought some magnetic nail polish a while ago, where after applying it, I should hover one of these magnets over immediately, and then a pattern would form. I was just trying out on the few nails that lost the stick-ons.
Then I just sit around and wait for dinner. I play some on the Aggretsuko game, get stuck, then find out I can watch the episodes that I've unlocked. Honestly, I know about Aggretsuko, but I haven't watched any of it before. This is the first time I'm watching this. For those uninitiated, this is about Retsuko, a girl who works in an office. She's nice and all, your standard "Japanese female" character, but with all the stress and crap she gets at work, at night when she goes sing karaoke, she turns into those death metal punks and sings with those death voice LOL. It's silly, but it's light hearted... and many situations are so relatable.
Dad was feeling lazy, so we went to get McDonalds'. I forgot to snap a photo of the dinner itself, so here is a photo of after-dinner LOL. We had some passion fruit as well.
Night time dog walk, coming back, Frankie was very nice and just sat down. However, the moron had his head out and so the doors of the elevator would not close. My sis purposefully did not pull him back to see how long he'd notice the doors aren't closing. He didn't notice. LOL.
Since it's Saturday, I decide to do a bit of pampering and use a scrub and bring out my good lotion. Mom also bought a rather expensive skincare device (which she then forced us to pay part of because, "you will be using it anyway") (really, given the choice, I wouldn't) (but gee, since I paid I'm going to use it once in a while).
Before bedtime, it's writing in my journal and then here. Nothing planned for tomorrow. I have to go back to the flower shops area because another shop that I did some online ordering had received their goods and sent me a message to go pick them up.
The plants grow light blinded me at 6am. They are on a timer, and they're supposed to light up at 7ish am, but there must be something wrong with the timer of this set of lights.
