OK, I have a question. Maybe it's a cultural thing. What is wrong with volunteering, and your company knowing that you are helping said organization? If it is for a worthy cause, wouldn't your company be proud of your involvement? Companies in the States at least get tax exemptions from helping such organizations. I don't know about Japanese companies, though.

I'm staying at LJ. Like you, I've been here a long time, and don't really feel like moving and starting anew.
As you said, the company is not responsible for Putin's decisions. I am also hesitant to lay all the blame on Russia. Scary world, though. And very sad. ;(
