3. How often do you check the batteries in your smoke alarm?
Not a (residential) building requirement here so, never.

Are you saying smoke alarms aren't required in buildings? Or just that it's not required to regularly check the batteries regularly? If the latter, is that just true for private homes? Surely in apartment buildings, the building management would have ensure all the smoke/fire detectors and alarms were properly working by checking them annually or something?
