The Weekend

I took Friday off again, so it's a 3-day weekend for me.

Yesterday, I went to the Book Fair in Hong Kong. I swore I'd never buy another DTB (Dead Tree Book), and what did I decide to do?

Buy a 3-book set, HAHA!

Miss Peregrine's Home of Pecular Children, boxed set.

I didn't know it was a book, I think it was last year or some time that I first saw the trailer for the movie, this kid going underwater and then this underwater girl pulling him through the door (or something like that). Then there was the delightful little girl with a mouth at the back of her head. I was intrigued. Then it said Tim Burton. But I never knew of the name of the movie.

Soon I forgot about it. Then yesterday, at the book fair, one of the stalls had a TV and there it was that trailer again. I was this near to buying it, but they only had books one and hey, there's two also! But, I remembered my vow, no buying DTBs. I checked on Amazon, found out there's supposed to be a 3, and all are available on the Kindle... So I gave it a pass, intending to buy the kindle copy when I've finished my current book.

When I was almost through the "English Avenue", there, I saw it, a boxed set. And also a sign saying 40% off if you buy 3 books. I asked, it's a box set, is it considered as 1 item or 3 books? When the lady said 3 books, and that it was eligible for the discount, nothing else could stop me from buying it... at USD$7 each, I thought it a total steal, so I got it.

Stationaries were a big thing at the book fair. There's this new fangled pen where you choose the color of the pen, then you can choose like 4 or 5 other pen refills and put it together (it's those multi-pens) and you can also top off the cover with a crown or a charm or a whatever. For a moment, i was tempted, but then, nah, why spend money, and that was that.

Went to some retro-y Hong Kong coffee shop, had a true Hong Kong style French toast, I missed that stuff. Oh, and the ice cream and red bean fleecy (no idea why it's called red bean fleecy when it's really a red bean ice)

Since I had to get back to Macau early (gotta feed and walk the dogs) so I just hopped over to Times Square, walked around, saw this Donguri Republic store (a Studio Ghibli merchandise store). I went crazy for a moment there, but soon composed myself. Score one for me as I didn't fall into temptation. Yay.
