Friday Five 3-February
Sunday, 5 February 2017 22:201. How many pets have you had at one time?
Currently, I have 5 (4 dogs and 1 cat) (shameless plugging: I have an instagram account for them @we4dogsmacau)
Throughout my life, I've always had some dog or another, except for one point in time when all our dogs and cats passed and then my Mom thought it was a good time to renovate the apartment, then we kept the place pet-free until my aunt got critically sick and couldn't care for her dog Peppie (more complicated story behind that, but let's keep this a happy-ish post), so we took him over (that's the dog in my icon of this post).
This is a bit outdated (I didn't have the patience to make another one), but here are the dogs/pets I've had, and some that I've met (used as my facebook header image)
2. What is the strangest pet you have ever had?
We had 2 tortoises at one point in time, Beata and Charlie. We got Beata from my Dad's friend, the friend having given the tortoise to him with the intention for him to cookit her. Then we all felt so sorry for her that Dad and I went down to the wet market and just so happened to see another tortoise for sale (also to be cooked), so we just bought him and then we had 2 tortoises. Beata died in a few years but Charlie went on to live for quite a while (he's up there in that montage eating a banana).
My sister then came back from Austria and brought some Ferrets home. At that time, Ferrets were like, unheard of as pets over here, so I guess they can be considered strange as well?
3. What is the coolest trick you have ever taught a pet?
The brown/yellow dog on the top right corner of the montage above, her name was Fufu. She knew all the basic tricks, and I taught her, because she was MY dog. She was the runt of a litter of 7, if I recall correctly, or, she was the only female from the litter, and nobody wanted her. How I grovelled and begged my parents to keep her (we were keeping the mother at my Dad's then-restaurant). She knew to sit, lie down, shake her paw, and everything. Wonderful dog off-leash. She would run ahead but not further than some 30 paces, as she would either wait or walk back to see us, then continue. She also learned a funny thing that if I'm like, away from her, but I'd like her to turn into the next intersection to the left, I just had to point my finger the direction and she would go there.
4. Real animals: What animal have you always wanted as a pet?
I've always been happy with the dogs, but at one point in time I really really really really wanted a hedgehog. That was the time when we were pet-free, but it never came to as hedgehogs were pretty "new" as a pet at that time, considered exotic, and I was still at school, didn't have my own money to make that decision.
5. Imaginary animals: Describe the ideal pet, an animal that doesn't really exist.
I can't imagine any animal better than the Dog.
