Right, so today was... eventful is a kind word for it.
I woke up feeling crappy as ever. Geez, my throat hurt! After the usual dog walk and breakfast, I sent a text to the boss saying I'll take a sick day but will still go into the office for an hour or so to put some things in order. He was OK about it, and off I went to work.
Did some filing, cleaned up my in-box, made sure I had everything in order, and then went to the doctor. Got 3 days worth of meds, and then went home.
Once home, I went out for lunch with Mom, took my first dose of meds, and went to visit my Dad, detouring to get him his favorite dessert and also a coffee for him.
Visited with Dad, he still doesn't know how long the doctors want to hold him in, but since nothing will be done over the weekend, we think his surgery will only take place next week. He's being held in because they found stones in his bladder. It's a long story. But in case you are interested...the long story short is, he had bladder cancer some 10 years ago, so he had his bladder removed, and used part of his intestines to make a new bladder, then found out he has some problem with his blood and so had to go on blood thinners, etc. etc... supposedly with his "man-made" bladder being intestines he shouldn't get bladder stones so the doctors are worried.
Good spirits though, so that's good.
Then I got home, it was too much excitement for the day, so I went for a lie-in. Sister came back, and Mom had dinner out, so we took the dogs out, but detoured to the hospital again because my aunt brought coffee grounds for my father but forgot the creamer. So I went to pass him a bottle of creamer and pick up a basket of fruits that a friend of his gave him when he visited.
My sister, the genius, switched off the engine, then switched on the lights so that she can get the radio running. By the time I came back down and she tried to start the car, of course, she killed the battery. Mom has a trusted mechanic but the guy really isn't a 24-hour guy, whereas I have a business contact that does 24-hour emergency (battery change, tyre change, etc) so I got him over to change the car battery. Of course it costed an arm, and I'll have to split with my sister because 1) it's her fault but 2) it's my car, I can retaliate with 3) I haven't even driven my car in the past 2 years, but I'm sure Mom will go around say something like my sister doesn't earn enough for all these expenses. Whatever.
All the while the puppies behaving beautifully. Jerks. One of them usually goes crazy seeing any stranger near the car.
Finally walked the dogs, got home and had dinner.
Mom came back and yelled more at my sister for being air-headed and just switching the electricity on without starting the engine. It's something I always say - if you want the radio, fine. Start the engine as well, not just switch the battery on.
Anyway, I'm tired and I'll probably go sleep again, despite it being just 10.30pm. But I'm sick. I was even out and about more than on a regular day.
