Friday Five 29-September

1. How did you choose your LJ/DW username?
Let me think about it... back then (like some 10, 12 years ago, or even before that, depending on this LJ's age. It was before this LJ), together with 2 other friends, we were planning to buy a domain to host ourselves. So we agreed on a domain but we had to each think of a handle. In the end, since my 2 friends had really spiffy other-language handles, I thought of Notte (Italian, "night").
Then it got to be too much hassle to maintain our own domain and it all went dead. Just at that time, someone gave me an invite code for LJ and so I kept Notte, but then it was used. I thought Notte1 would be too obvious that it was because the username was taken, I didn't want to put any birthdates or weird numbers, so in the end I chose 0. Ta-da, Notte0.

2. What has been your favorite day this year and why?
I don't remember. Let's just say my trip to Tokyo. The day I did manage to pull a surprise birthday cake for my friend.
I found a cake shop through Line that accepted orders through Line, and we only had to pay at pick up. Sadly they didn't do delivery to our hotel area. And somehow the stars aligned and we happened to go to a restaurant that was just next to the cake shop (pure, pure luck) and then after dinner (my friend was already thinking why i skipped dessert), I walked past the cake shop and said "oh, a cake shop. Cakes look cute! Let's take a look!" Granted, my friend was weirded out, but we went in.

"Oh, lookie look at this cake! It has your name on it!"

"Huh? What? How come? oh! YOU! Surprise cake!"

LOL. That was also a feeling accomplished surprise as all communication with the cake shop was done in my shoddy Japanese an entire week earlier, and it all worked out with my not blurting stuff out and letting the cat out of the bag. Haha.

3. What is your favorite film you've seen in the past year and why?
I already don't remember what I watched last year. But I do remember that none of them was particularly awe-inspiring. On that note though, I was super impressed with the twist of Maleficent a while ago.

4. What is your favorite book you've read in the past year and why?
Again, nothing comes to mind as particularly liked or disliked. Similarly, Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go's big reveal was really troubling for me.

5. You get to program a half-hour of music videos on MTV. What videos to you pick?
Honestly, music videos aren't really my thing. I don't care for music videos. I wouldn't know what's good.

2-weeks gone by

And just like that, 2-weeks went by.

Sorry for being gone for a while. Life was a bit crazy.

I'm a bit in a depressive slump.

But I'll persevere, I think. Will try to pick myself up.

Mom's birthday today, we had our usual big family lunch, at a buffet place. I already limited my eating - a salad to start, some bread and cheese, the main dishes and limited myself to 1 piece of dessert only. Also I only had a sip of wine.

But come afternoon I was so drained, I had to go for a lie down, and after that during the dog walk I actually felt dizzy. It soon passed though. Have I become such a lightweight for alcohol? Unbelievable.

I'd actually like to make some sort of a post with pictures but I still haven't figured out how best to go about posting photos and then writing in LJ smoothly. I guess I got too used with Photobucket. The LJ scrapbook isn't entirely easy (when I mostly work on my mobile device).

This week is looking to be really boring as well. My boss is playing truant. That's one of the things putting me in my depressive mood. If he doesn't show up, then there's absolutely nothing to do at work. Yet I have to be there. Makes me wonder if I should just call it quits right there and then. Oh wait, coz my boss is not there, I can't really submit my resignation. Geez. It's all my history 12 years ago happening all over again.

Another thing I've been busy about is drafting and drawing the design for my room. Mom has finally relented to renovating and turning the computer room to my sister's room, then we get separate rooms. Finally. But again, the thing is, sequencing-wise, they're gonna have to fix my sister's room, then mine (beds and sleeping space reason). Yet my sister still isn't moving her ass with designing or saying what she wants done with the room. Geez.
