Not again...

So one of my more recent "nightmares" have happened.

My boss today has added another week to his unpaid leave time request. That means I'm looking at 2 weeks of abyss. This is ridiculous. Why must they do this to someone that actually enjoys working? Whereas all the other lazy asses are stuck in a department that actually has something to do but then get heaped onto the person that actually works? I'd kill to swap places, the lazy ass can come switch with me.

Another not-so-happy thing that happened is this little terrormonster MinPin went to the vet today. We took him in due to some intermittent tummy issues (mainly diarrhea) and so the vet did a blood test. Pancreatitis again. Got admitted to the vet hospital immediately, standard 3 days. All for the little pup of course, but still I wasn't looking forward to the bill, which was expected to be some +MOP$2500 a day (roughly USD$300 or so?). It was painful but I was ready to pay that kind of money for the dog. Then, later in the day the vet hospital calls and says since he is an old dog, the vet suggests to do a plasma transfusion as well, and that it would be another +MOP$3000 a day on top of the normal hospital stay. So I'm looking at a possible +MOP$6000 per day stay for the dog... for 3 days....

I'd call bullshit, but my Dad swears by this vet and while I also agree that this particular vet is the best in town, his prices are really on the steep side. (Long long story to this as well. The difference is Macau after all). And like the last time with this little bugger, my Dad was all "We'll share the costs!" but I still haven't seen a shadow of the the MOP$40,000 and upwards that I paid... I'm not about to open my mouth and make him pay it, but it would be nice if he does pitch in. This bugger is his baby after all.

(not that I don't like him. I like all dogs. Technically I have to hate this one though because he's not really "my" dog, LOL. But no, I love him all the same, really)

On happier thoughts, look at my Chia Seeds! I tried growing them at work but by the second week they all died out. Now I'm growing them at home in my room, at my windowsill and they are sprouting like mushrooms!

I actually wanted to wait a bit since we are finally moving forward with renovating the rooms (we're getting separate rooms!). I've thought about and designed how I want my room to be but since they have to work with my sister's room first, I think my getting my own room is still quite some time away. I had drawn out plans that I would get good windowsill space for planting and wanted to wait till then to plant these chia seeds... but I was impatient and planted them now. I guess it's time to re-pot them too.

I don't even remember what I've posted and what I haven't posted. If I'm rambling, I apologize. I went to Hong Kong last week to get my Austrian Passport renewed. Of all the foreign consulates and embassies in this part of the world, I really love the Austrian Consulate. I was told I needed a few documents (my proof of Austrian citizenship, and birth certificate) on the phone. I made a comment like "gee, do I have a citizenship form?" and the guy says "of course, every Austrian has one." At home, after much searching, on my Mom's part, she found it and I made my copies, scanned them, and brought them over. The guy cheekily told me very quietly "I've prepared everything for you - we have your file here" and I virtually only needed to show up, fill in the form, pay the money and go.

Considering the Austrian community is not big over here, I guess they know almost everyone.

In other consulates and embassies, I remember waiting, getting snobbed at, and just generally unpleasant experiences. Gotta love the Austrians. Then I hear that "you have to be a national of that consulate to be treated well". Well, arguable. You don't get this kind of service in the Portuguese consulate of Macau... LOL.

Of course, Hong Kong means shopping! More Nanoblocks, which I'm hoarding for after the renovations and my having a lot of display shelves then I'll put them together... I also couldn't wait any longer for the iOS or the Nintendo Switch version of Animal Crossing, and caved... bought a second hand NDS version to play for now.

That Hong Kong day was rather fruitful, if uneventful. Next would be 3 weeks later for me to pick up my new passport. And then it's all my traveling in December. I'm thinking of squeezing another holiday in 2 weeks, but with the vet bills, I'll probably have to reconsider.
