Friday Five 24-August [backdate post]
Wednesday, 29 August 2018 23:201, What is your favourite food?
I’m pretty gung-ho about food so I actually like most things. Since this is asked this way, favorite food would be fish... specifically in Japanese cuisine. And that means raw fish.
2, What is your favourite food preparation method?
So I just said I like raw fish (sashimi). Over in this part of the world, if you want a medium rare steak, you have to ask for it to be raw (the Chinese in general over cooks steaks!). LOL. But no, I like stews or fondue type of cooking. I like my rice/carbs to have sauce!
3, What is your favourite cuisine or style of cooking?
I don’t have a particular favourite, but right now at this moment, Thai sounds really good!
4, Do you have any dietary restrictions and if so what are they?
So after my surgery 3 weeks ago, I do have some “general” Chinese mentality restrictions, which I’m following loosely. After surgery, you are not supposed to eat beef, duck, goose, seafood (esp crabs and shrimps and lobsters), fish without scales, cold stuff, and certain fruits. I can’t explain why. But it’s really a thing for the Chinese.
5, If you could introduce the whole world to one ingredient to improve their culinary experience, what would that be and why?
Pumpkin seed oil! It’s non-existent here, but oh so good for salad... and even better for ice cream!
