Friday Five 21-December
Saturday, 22 December 2018 09:211. Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas – which one do you use?
As a kid at school, it was always Merry Christmas. Then the school principal (English nun) used Happy Christmas. As kids are, I thought she said it wrong, LOL. Now of course I know it’s all the same.
2. Do you own an ugly Christmas sweater?
Haha, I simply happen to know about this “ugly Christmas sweater” thing but no, I don’t own one. None of my aunts or grandma knitted me one. But I know my mom bought a crazy ugly Christmas sweater featuring a Christmas tree!
3. Do you celebrate the Winter Solstice?
How is it celebrated in the western world? We do it the Chinese way: family gets together for dinner. Think western Thanksgiving, that would be that. My parents even call it Chinese Christmas.
4. Now that you are ‘in the know,’ what would you leave out for St. Nick on the 24th?
Not in my culture/custom, besides, the dogs will eat that.
5. Tired of the snow and icky weather yet? For those fortunate folks in the other hemisphere, are you tired of the humidity and hot weather?
While we do not have the distinct 4 seasons in Macau, it’s still supposed to be cold at this time of the year.... but it’s still in the mid-twenties Celsius currently.
