Thoughts on minimalistic living
Thursday, 15 August 2019 21:03I wanted to keep this for my post on my home renovations but as I know myself quite well, if I don’t write it now, I will never write it. (Be it because I just forget about wanting to write it, or forget about this one point of clarity or thought or epiphany)
So for this home reno, we are not moving out. With 4 dogs and 2 cats, we couldn’t find a landlord willing to rent us a place. And we refuse to place the animals in pet hotels.
For this reason, I had to move most of my stuff into a warehouse. I had to sort out my clothes to live out of one box, so I had exactly 5 days worth of work clothes, 2 sets weekend wear, 1 set of dog walk attire, 1 set pyjamas and 2 sets of running clothes. I threw in 2 dress extra for in case there’s any ad hoc event or whatnot.
Had to sleep on the floor in my Sis’ spiffs new room for over a week! And I guess I AM allergic to dust as finally after 4 weeks of renovations I’m starting to itch whenever I get home.
My room is finally livable (though not 100% done, the reno guys still have to hang up my mirror & puzzles and get me that one plate/shelving for my TV and the coat hooks. I also need to get new curtains.) so I started moving my stuff in. I’m still living on that 1-week worth of clothes, but I must say, it feels so freeing to be so minimalistic.
I was putting my stuff (that aren’t in the warehouse) together and it’s so easy... until I think about my stuff in the warehouse, LOL.
For now, all the storage space that I have in my room is being used to store the things in the living room, as the next room to be renovated is the living room. Let’s home mom WILL remove all her stuff from my room and not let the stuff fester there for the next 30 years.
