First day back at work
Monday, 3 February 2020 23:10after the enforced day offs.... well... it's a strange feeling to not have anything piled up LOL. Coz everyone else was forced to be off as well...
It's like 98% of everyone has a face mask on these days. Today a message has been going around that without a face mask, public transport personnel have a right to refuse you from getting on the bus/taxi/light rail. It's crazy.
I started clearing out my desk. Saw a stack of business cards so I started inputting them... gee, those were from before my time. I remember when I got handed over the job, the girl, we'll call her S, said "These are the business cards he has collected." I asked "Okay, so do you digitize them in Outlook or in an Excel document or some other format?" And she goes, "No, he won't contact these people anyway, so I just pile them in a corner."
Well, true to her word, he never asked to refer back to anyone in that stack, but I kept that stack intact to remind myself of some people's working style... since then I've built the boss' contacts database, and today I made a head start in sorting out those old cards (2016). They may be outdated, but I'll just put them on record. I don't have any other thing better to do anyway.
Tomorrow I have to go to a meeting venue (not where my "headquarters" is located) so that I can connect the boss to the meeting teleconference system, then I'll stay in that building, as I guess there should be some paperwork to handle there. Then Wednesday I can go back to my "headquarters" and sort out the travel expenses from last month. I guess the required refunds and invoices should be issued by then.
Yes, I kind of can make my own time and choose where to work every day (since the boss is not in town) so this is one of the small perks I have. As long as I am contactable and can resolve things, the boss doesn't care where I am. A blessing and a curse at different times, LOL
