I reminded the boss that I'm off today, so that even if he has anything to do, he may contact me, but I reserve the right to only do them on Monday.

So far, he's been nice about it.

It's a pamper-myself day today!

It was a lazy morning at home, chilling with my dog in my bed. Just before noon, I left to get my manicure done. I decided to risk it and ask the lady to keep my nails long.

This is probably the longest I will be willing to keep my nails at. Any longer and they are in the way with my getting things done. By the time it was finished, it was just before 2pm, and I went to hunt for lunch. I wanted to go get healthy food, but it all seemed to be so far away. Then I walked by a KFC, and figured I didn't have KFC for a long long time, so in I went. And I didn't like it. The chicken wasn't good, and the batter wasn't good. I remember KFC being really very yummy! Especially the crust! But it was a letdown. I seriously think Jollibee is now the one with better chicken than KFC.

After that, I had some time to kill, so I hopped on the bus to go out over to Taipa island return the book, and browse around and see if I'll get another book for my weekend reading. That library is HUGE. But this is the corner with English fiction. That's all. I'd say there's another corridor of shelves with specific topic books, but I didn't walk over there.

I meandered over the Japanese authors section thinking about what other Ishiguro's books I didn't read when a book spine that looked pretty new caught my eye. Then I recognized the title to be some sort of famous book or what (I think I watched a movie? Or a something based on this book), and, geez, the font size in this book is HUGE. If I focus I probably can finish reading this book in one sitting. Let's see how concentrated I can be.

Finally, around 3.30pm I headed out and back to my workplace - the building. There's a staff privilege going on at the hotel Salon for a very discounted price for a haircut, and that's even cheaper than my neighborhood hairdresser. My colleagues sort of recommended as well, saying the stylists there are OK, so I figured I might as well give it a try.

It was fancy. Very fancy. It was also intimidating because it was empty. It's a Salon in a 5-star hotel, of course it's intimidating. I was the only client. Since it's the salon and spa, as I waited, the receptionist served me a ginger tea. The mirror in front of my seat was huge, with either an embedded TV in the corner, or it's the TV screen projected to the mirror, or, whatever. I didn't need to leave my seat to the tap to get my hair washed. They have a movable tap and basin that they pushed towards my seat. Super fancy. Not my cup of tea, LOL. I was also doubting the young stylist guy. His movements looked amateur to me, like he wasn't sure what he was doing. Whereas my neighborhood hairdresser is like chop chop swing the scissors that way and kick in his stool to sit and whatnot.

But in the end, the young guy understood me better. He cut my hair short short short and I love it! My usual hairdresser would never dare to cut my hair this short in the back. Overall, I liked it, but next month I'll ask him to be a little more daring with the top of my head and also my fringes, they can go a tad bit shorter too.

What's more, because I was the only client, this was all done in less than an hour. I felt peckish and wanted to get either a Starbucks or an ice cream, but then decided to go to the shopping mall on the way home to check out their cereal selection, and they stocked that oat bran thing that I liked. So I got that, and went home.

A somewhat productive day!

1) What is the oldest thing you own?
I'm sure I've got a lot of treasures hidden somewhere in the apartment, but for the ease of my brain, I'll only do a look around in my room to see the oldest thing I've got, and it's probably my Ricky Racoon plushie. I've had that plushie since forever. I don't even know who gave me that, I only know it's always been either on my bed or on my bed-shelf.

2) What is the oldest home you've lived in?
I've lived in this apartment for the most of my life, though I do remember a time when we were living in a house. But it's been since demolished and now the new government headquarters office is there. It was a pink colonial house and very old, I remember small snippets of it.

3) What is the oldest book you've read?
Is this asking about a physically old book, or the book (contents) being old? I suppose if it's contents then the Bible??????? Physically old book... I bought an old copy of Black Beauty a couple years back in London and I've read that already. I don't dare to open it again because it's pretty old.

4) What is the oldest electronic device that you still use?
That I'm still using... erm... We have this dehumidifyer that's probably older than I am LOL and we still use it. As for me and my stuff, I still have my PS2 and NDS outside, ready to be used anytime (unless when I want to use it and find out it's dead). As for stuff that's probably hiding somewhere, I think I should still have my first ever point-and-shoot camera.

5) What is the oldest work of art/architecture that you've seen?
hmmm........ I don't know, I haven't purposefully marked down the years that places I've visited were built in. But I know I had dinner in a restaurant in Salzburg that claimed to be the first restaurant in Salzburg (or something to that effect). Erm... I've also visited a catacomb or two, I guess those are probably old. Oh hold on, work of art or architecture.... I don't know. Churches, museums, statues...
