Shamelessly snagged from [livejournal.com profile] unbound_ophelia

the letter a
are you available? I could be for the right person LOL but I'm not. Just because I'm single doesn't mean I'm available
what is your age? 38. Have I explained how I always confound myself about my own age?
what annoys you? Disrespect. From disrespect, a lot of other things can happen and all that annoys me. Always late to appointments? Disrespect. Talking back, constantly making jokes at the expense of a person? Disrespect. And kids these days annoy me to no end.

the letter b

do you live in a big house? I live in an apartment, and I believe my place is considered large by local standards. We only have 1 toilet/bath but we do have 3 bedrooms and a large verandah.
when is your birthday? 12 January.
who are your best friends? I would have to say C is my best friend and P a close second. The 3 of us would make our annual trips together. But obviously, not lately, because, Covid.

I couldn't find that post, but I wrote once, a few weeks back (or was it months?) about finding 2 turtles just sitting in their box and possibly being abandoned as the boxes were just sitting out in the street with a bottle of feed next to them?

Well, last night, a similar thing happened again.

So 2 nights ago, as I walked past a supposed garage that usually has its gates closed, but on that day it was opened and so we saw a hamster box sitting in the middle. My dog sniffed at it and saw the moving hamster, and started to get wild, but before he got wild, I pulled him away. So. First sight of this hamster.

Yesterday morning, after the morning dog walk, the garage gate was still opened, the hamster box still there.

Last night, the garage gate was still opened, but no hamster box. Instead, the hamster box, with a pile of newspapers and I think a bag of hamster feed, was sitting across the garage entrance, some 2 or 3 meters away, in the same corner as where the turtles were. Once again, they can say that they just put the box out there to "air" the animal or whatever, but when you put the feed, and newspapers (I guess to change the underlining of the cage after they pee and poo), then most likely it's abandoning the animal.

Dad said it's probably just the box and no hamster inside. So we looked. THERE WAS A HAMSTER INSIDE. The guy from the garage came out and asked "do you want to take it? I also have a dog if you want!!"

My Sis got miffed and started taking photos and sent them to her supervisor (My sis works in an animal rescue). Her supervisor came, and my Sis explained the situation.

Since the garage is practically our neighbour (of sorts), my Sis wanted to report this anonymously as we still have to walk past the garage every day. Her supervisor called the Municipal Kennel people and issued a fine to the garage guy. Then I think the guy hid and the wife came out and started just saying things like "the kids put the box out to air it out only". I think they still gave them the penalty.

Today, my Sis is annoyed that her supervisor asked her to go to the Authorities to give evidence by Friday. I understand my Sis, we'd like to report the guy, but we want to do it anonymously. We still have to walk by the place every day, and it would get weird if they know that we are the ones that reported them. But you don't just abandon an animal in the box? What if no one ever comes for the animal? Then it's gonna starve inside the box! They are crazy!

I guess my Sis will tell them about the turtles as well, and also that comment about the dog too.
