Life in general

I've been on the quiet side, haven't I? I'm sorry. I've been crazy busy lately. And it's mainly my own doing.

I've actually found the motivation to try out those Nike fitness plans. I know, a far cry from actually going to the gym and whatnot. But, I think it's a good start. I've actually managed to finish one full 6-week course. If I don't push myself too much by plying too many workouts a week, I can actually follow them. I'm now on my second 6-week course, and I'm on week 2 already.

I've set for the plan to generate a maximum of 3 workouts per week, including runs. I usually manage to squeeze in another 2 workouts or runs on the supposed rest days, but as these 2 extra are "optional", I don't feel burnt out and so am able to keep myself motivated.

I still can't do a proper push up, but I noticed I can now go down deeper when I'm doing a modified push up (from knees instead of toes), and I can maintain it for longer. So I guess... I'm making some progress?

I was never flexible. You know, when people say children are flexible, it's only because they don't exercise that they become stiff? I call that bullshit. Even from a very young age (grade 2 or so) I couldn't do cow face pose. I was also never able to do splits. I remember a PE teacher (thinking back I think she wasn't ever qualified to be one) actually trying to help me pull my hands nearer together, but it hurt and I yelled it hurts. She actually docked points from my PE score, when PE was never a "number" graded subject! I got a D or something that year. ("Number" grades are the grades that count to your passing or failing the year. 100 is full score, passing mark at 50. Things like PE and cooking and other hobby stuff are graded ABCs and don't count towards your final score).

I still can't do that blasted post but now I have some handy tools to help my reach, however my final target is not to be able to clasp my hands. I just want to loosen up a bit.

I've also re-started learning German. I wasn't able to find an in-person course, so I'm now doing a trial with an online thingamajig. I've tried learning German so many times for so long, but one thing is, I never started from the very beginning. I was always thrown to like the 3rd course or the intermediate class because I knew enough to fool people to think I know some German, but really... I don't know as much as people seem to think I do. So I'm now doing the very beginning classes... and while the grammar is so boring (I basically do know the sentence structure and most greetings), learning the vocabs from the beginning is proving to be very helpful.

So, every day I wake up, walk the dogs, have breakfast, go to work around 9ish (as long as I arrive before 10), lunch 12.30-13.30 and try to read or do something useful, get off work at 6, get home, help around or do nothing do the German lesson thing, dinner anywhere between 7-8. Usually we only leave for the night dog walk around 8.30, get home around 9.15, then either do more German or do they Nike workouts, shower around 10.30, night ritual (moisturizer and whatever), write in journal, progress a bit in a game or two... lights off and sleep.............

It's intense.

It's worse when my colleagues ask me out for dinner or if I suddenly decide to watch a movie LOL. I have a dinner coming up on Tuesday. It's gonna be intense. They say they are bringing a lot of sake. Hey, it's a work night........ and there's this big meeting the following day!

Work has been ok. My boss made me install his email from another company onto my phone as well. So now I'm checking his emails from 3 different companies *rolls eyes*. At least, it's just to check out meeting invitations and to align his schedule. If he wants me to read and handle his emails from this other company then There Will Be Words.

Tomorrow (Sunday) my Sis, Cousin and I are going back to the soap class place to slice up our soaps. I hope the patterns come out nice. They used very peacock-ish colors (blues/greens) while I chose very warm colours (red, yellow), Then it's the family lunch, and finally a free afternoon with absolutely nothing. What should I do? I'll maybe nap a bit LOL.

I'm also trying out electronic journals on my iPad. I came to understand it's downloading a set of PDFs to use with applications like GoodNotes. These look fun enough, but I'm just trying them out now. Because of these PDFs, I had to try to register for an account on something like the Google Drive but from China, called the Baidu Storage (or something). Apparently, I need a China mobile phone number to register, and I don't have one. I found out my carrier can offer a China number to go with my existing number for a small monthly fee, so I applied. Now waiting to see if it actually goes through, and if that number can be used to do such registrations. I'll see next week.

I mentioned in a previous post that I went for another soap making class with my Sis and my cousin. We learnt to make the roseremi pattern soap.

It was fun to think about colors and choosing the stencil. It seems I made a good choice with my stencil choice and the colours I chose... I have... RESULTS! The overall theory is, you place a stencil on the bottom of a cylindrical container, with lines attaching so you can pull it out. After you've beaten up the soap and chosen the colours you use, you start to pour in the coloured soap in whatever sequence you like. I didn't shoot a photo of the cylinder and you can guess from the photos above and below, I kept the same colour sequence throughout. In the end, you pull out the stencil and let the tube just sit for a week to harden.

The soap had to be left to dry out for a week, and today we went to slice them out. It had to be 1 week because if we waited too long, then the soap would have hardened to much and it will be difficult to slice. It was magical, as you sliced each piece, you see the patterns come out. The lady taught us to slice thinner pieces, because this way we get to see more variation of our patterns. Look how pretty they are! I think some pieces look like nice grapefruits LOL!

There's more! )
