So yesterday I picked up a student card in the street. It looked so shabby, and it was even slightly bent. It's one of those smart student cards where the students use it to swipe their attendance and maybe even is like a money card and may have some monetary value inside.
Me being me I was the entire night at odds with myself. Do I just let it be? It looked so shabby so it's probably an old card, but as it's a smart card it would cost quite a bit to replace. Then I was thinking, oh gosh, the kid would get so much shit from the Mom, or, worse, if the kid had a nanny and then the parents would blame the nanny, or, if it was the husband then the wife will scold him. Oh, are they a decently well-off family? Is the penalty affordable? Could be expensive for not-so-better-off families.
In the end I just called the school to ask, as there wasn't any indication of the academic year. They asked me for the name and the student number on the card and said yes they still have this student in.
So I went over to drop off the card. I have a clear conscience now, and can sleep easy tonight.
But that school is in a part of town that I'm not too familiar with and so I had to look for it and then when I got there, it's a pretty far-off place from my work. No bother. Just walk. But geez it's hot here now. 34C, it's brutal. And then just some 200 meters from my work place it started to pour LOL. But now I forever have a mini and light umbrella with me. Didn't totally keep me dry, but it was better than nothing.
So! Just going to slave the afternoon away and then will get off a bit earlier. Have a dinner date with my friends.
