Friday Five 5-November-2021
Friday, 5 November 2021 23:25What's up with
thefridayfive? Haven't seen them for 2 weeks.
Here are questions from F.riday5.com:
1. What unique behavior, attire, or ceremony element have you seen at a wedding?
I wouldn't really know, would I? I've only ever been to the "localized" Chinese style weddings, and they are all the same to me. It might sound a little different to those that are not living here in Macau. And I know nothing about western weddings.
For Chinese weddings, there's this part where the groom will pick up the bride from the bride's maiden home. I think up to this part it's common in most cultures? The difference, I suppose, is when the bridesmaids make it difficult for the groomsmen to reach the bride. So the "lady group" get to torture the "men group". I've seen horrendous "games". Something about the groom willing to go through fire and ice for the bride or all that rot. At the end of the day, it's all bribery or consumerism, because at the end of the day, the groom and his mens group have to pay the ladies group and they will let the groom go to the bride.
2. Who’s your favorite piano player?
(alternate question: Among people you know, who’s the best piano player?)
erm... I don't know enough pianists? I know Richard Clayderman, he's pretty "hot stuff" here LOL. I know him purely because he's the only Christmas album we used to play at home LOL LOL LOL. Though I'm sure most asians/chinese like him because of blonde, blue eyes, the perfect prince charming haha!
Recently (and I use the term loosely) it was Maksim being the next big thing.
Oh, recently Yundi Li has some kind of fiasco going on. They're gonna fridge him. Or the term nowadays is cancel, right? They're gonna cancel him soon.
I suppose Lang Lang is good, but he's not my favorite. I don't have a favorite! The guy behind The Piano Guys is really a cello guy, he's good, but he's not a pianist. I somewhat lazily follow Lindsey Stirling, but not a pianist either. Is Jennifer Thomas more a pianist or a violinist?
3. When did rain notably ruin your plans?
There must have been something, but I honestly don't remember.
4. What is your going-to-bed ritual like?
Usually, night routine is either dog walk and dinner, or dinner then dog walk (interchangeable depending on when my Sis gets off work). Then it's feed the dogs. Then I shower, night skincare routine, clean the kitty sandbox in my room, sit down, write on my 5-year journal, then it's either here on LJ, blog, read, do German, then is play on my mobile games until midnight then lights off and sleep.
5. When did you last give roses to someone or receive them from someone?
I've received flowers before, but I forget if those were roses or not. I keep saying I hate receiving flowers. My brain automatically associates the smell of flowers to funerals and cemeteries. I also hardly give flowers. But I remember once in primary school I bought a single yellow rose to give Mom because I heard her say she liked yellow roses. However the rose pretty much wilted when I got home so I didn't give it to her LOL.
