oh, lookie, surprise public holiday... on a Friday! The best holidays are the ones that you aren't even aware of and then bam, you've got an extra day off! It's the Tung Ng Festival, or the Dragon Boat Festival, and right now i'm sick of rice dumplings, because it's gonna be a few nights of rice dumpling dinners. It's good when you have one once in a while, it's another matter when you're having like... everyday... AND my Mom had the brilliant idea of freezing a couple that Cousin N gave us last year... and we just ate them last night.... and then Cousin N came and gave us more rice dumplings this year... which I can foresee Mom is going to put them in the freezer and freeze them for next year...
My whatsapp and wechat messages are being bombarded by such similar greeting messages....
And the rice dumplings we had last night...
Which just means I've suddenly got more time than I know what to do with... just so happens F.riday5.com has their Friday Five questions early up today!
1. Who has a great voice for acting in movies?
I'm not really big into movies and I'm really sh*t at pop culture. I'm still in the 90s era. I suppose... Megumi Hayashibara 林原めぐみ has been a staple in Japanese Anime as far as voice actors (seiyuu 声優) go... though I do have a personal favorite of Megumi Shinohara 篠原恵美, I think she has a beautiful voice for speaking and singing. Another powerhouse (I think) is Megumi Ogata 緒方恵美 who if I recall correctly is able to do at least 13 different voices (male and female) so that was an impressive feat too.
Looking at my list above, they are all called Megumi. Come on.
2. When have you recently resisted temptation?
I had planned to buy another bracelet in May, and I have successfully resisted temptation! I'm going to convince myself to skip June as well. Though, I am in the market for a previous stone or beaded bracelet that attracts wealth, but at the same time I'm eyeing Gibeon Meterite bracelets because... they look pretty. But I'll abstain, or at least attempt to.
3. When did you last cry in front of someone?
In front of? It must have been quite some time back. If I recall correctly, it was that time when I had just jumped ship, following my then-supervisor to a new company, and then soon, in the new company, she got transferred to another department, and left me hanging dry. Geez. I know and understand that it wasn't in her control, but it still royally sucked for me. Hey, she was a good supervisor, I trusted her judgement, so when she jumped ship, I jumped with her, hoping to learn more under her guidance, and then she's gone? She asked to speak with me some time after and I had a good cry. *shrugs*. I don't suppose if that happened now, I'd cry... let me think. Oh yeah no. When my ex-Boss just up and decided to quit then spent the entirety of his supposed notice period MIA (he must have thought he was entitled to garden leave), and then I was left soulless (no boss overhead) for about a year, no, I didn't cry. I was annoyed, but I didn't cry. Annoyed because I didn't know where to get approvals from (no boss overhead) but not devasted because... the payroll kept coming every month. And everything ironed out in the end, so yeah.
4. When did you receive encouragement from an unexpected person?
It wasn't really a direct "encouragement given" by a person... I don't know how to explain it. When I see how sh*t some people are in their work, I go all "I can't be worse than that!" and then I work my ass off so I'm not like that. I see something with very good work ethics or way of doing something, I admire that and strive to be like that. So I kind of receive a roundabout encouragement that way.
5. How old are some personal letters you’ve kept, and how easily do you throw personal letters away?
THEY ARE SOMEWHERE IN SOME BOX, I know, I just don't know where that blasted box is. I don't normally throw personal letters away, but it has come to a point in time where I have to make executive decisions, because I have nowhere to keep these letters.
