Oh boy all over again
Tuesday, 21 June 2022 08:56Guess i was lucky coming back on Friday. Apparently, things happened. Someone tested positive, and they went to a party or something, and then went to a banquet and whatnot. And now there are around 30 positive cases... and so... the city locks down again.
While the rest of the world seem to be taking Covid in stride and aiming for herd immunity, here it's like "THERE MUST BE NOOOOOOOOO CASES!"
Sending out messages like this just creates a scare, I suppose.
But, the funny side of this is... I know exactly whose party it was, and I know exactly who then went to the banquet and blah blah. Macau IS so small.
The Friday party was held by an ex-colleague, the party was for her daughter's 5th birthday. She's someone with some background (parents are some big shot, I suppose), so she's like somewhat of a minor celebrity or a known person here. One of the party goers is the owner of a restaurant that recently got to be rather popular.
(I've blacklisted the restaurant since last year as they were a cocky bunch of a-holes. It was early, 6.30pm-ish, the restaurant was empty, there was no sign about a private event, so my friend and I wanted to go and have a drink then go home. But they were all like, "do you have a reservation? You can't come in" okay. Come in we won't. EVER!)
So. That's the big news from this side of the world. Still going to be stuck.
Offices are advised to close for a couple days to avoid people getting together. But I'm still going to work. There's stuff to do and work to get done. The other admins will happily take the day off anyway, so there will be no crowds in the office. Besides... my A/C is dead, so going back into the office lets me enjoy a chill air for a bit. What I have to think of is lunch. Only takeaways, so I'll probably not get lunch from the hotel coffee shop. Maybe I'll try another of those bento boxes. We'll see.
