Trying to get into a routine
Monday, 4 July 2022 22:35So over the last few days, I tried to get myself into a routine. I've been working pretty well for the last few days. I'm kind of suspecting if I write about it now, I'll just jinx myself and everything goes up into the air though, LOL.
To get myself started, I'll base the need to exercise on my Apple Watch's Activity circle. Of course, I know that's not a reliable thing, but I'm just trying to get myself into the habit. Today just so happened that I reached the required stand-hours, activity-time, and exercise-time. Probably because today in the office I was practically the only one in there and I had to go in and out to help collect documents/courier and whatnot. I don't mind that, but I also had my stuff to do. But anyway, today I reached the target. In the past couple of days, I had to get onto my running machine and power walk (just getting started) for half an hour to get the exercise required.
Regardless of whether I need to use the running machine or stationary bike to get the exercise-time as required, I still do some stretching. I remember, as a kid, during sports, I was never able to do that, one arm over and one arm behind thing? Back then I didn't know about yoga at that time. But I know for a fact, I wasn't able to do that since primary school (so, 8 years old?). I'm tempted to ask, who says children had "softer" joints and could do all those poses? I NEVER could. I even remember the teacher (Miss Franzesca, I remember you!) had even asked me "why can't your hands touch?" Well. I WOULD I KNOW?? They just couldn't!
So now, regardless I exercise or not, I do a couple of stretches, including this one arm over and one arm behind post (now I know it's the "Cow Face Pose" or Gomukhasana), hold for a couple minutes with the left arm over, and then hold for a couple minutes with the right arm over. Again, I'm using this plastic thing to start with. I noticed I have a more comfortable reach with my right arm over, while if it's my left arm over it's more difficult to reach even with the device. Once I feel more comfortable, I will use a yoga strap and try to inch the stretch deeper.
If I exercise, I would watch some Netflix while I bike or walk, this way, I can cut off the "night time Netflix watching" habit, and instead I can get back into some learning. I've started the German thing again. Guh. German is so hard. The thing is, if I have to listen to it, I most likely understand a lot, but I can't come up with my own sentences. It's probably because I grew up listening to my Dad speak with his family. But ohwell. It's a long road. I went in knowing German is a tough one.
I've also been pretty good with maintaining my water intake. On some newfangled app, after calculating whatever they have to calculate, it came out that I need to drink just over 2 litres of water daily (2310ml to be exact). I've been pretty successful so far, it's been a month! In the past 3 days, perhaps of the heat (or the ease of having a 1 litre bottle), I've been hitting 3 litres as well.
Tomorrow is going to be a fun day. I decided I'm not going into the office, and instead I'm going to the boss' side project property to see the arrival of one of the art pieces he's bought. Apparently they have to find a location to place it, so I'm going to mosey over and have a lookie (because I have nothing better to do anyway, and I'm nosey). For the record, I've completed a task that was asked of me, I haven't finished it yet, because the boss has to go over to see if he wants any more changes, but if no changes, he just has to say so, and I can submit it as is.
