The Start of a Beautiful Hobby
Sunday, 22 May 2011 23:58I hope my newly-found hobby (not really, it was always there, I never gathered the will to make it happen) is here to stay. I'm planning to invest in it already!
I opened this Sport Easy card from the Sports & Development Department, this enables me to use the sports facilities around town, for a small fee. It's a bit difficult to book though, as it seems everyone sits in front of the computer during booking hours and soon after the system is live, most of the good times are booked off already.
And the sport I'm talking about is Badminton. Ah, this brings back memories. I used to be on the school team! Though I was never asked to join any competitions (never was good enough) but I liked playing the sport all right.
Our session today shows that I've slowed down a lot, also probably because I'm growing old. My reaction's a bit slow, I couldn't bat down the shuttlecock and I've already pulled a few muscles here and there, I don't know how to run anymore!
Half way through, the plastic wrapped around the handle of my badminton racket started to peel off, so I took it all out, only to find out the actual handle lining was old and coming off. I have to take everything off and tomorrow buy a handle wrap or something to fix it. Stuff I used to do so many years ago! I wonder if I should actually invest in a new racket? This current I'm currently using is actually a cheap-ass racket my Dad bought at the dollar store. I used to have a really good purple colored one that was very light. I couldn't find it, not even with my high school stuff. Hm.....
And also proper sports shoes. I don't have those! But I don't intend to buy anything of that sort yet for now.
Already made the booking for next week. I've already got 2 friends who said will show up in all Sunday sessions that I book. I'm trying to get another friend to go play badminton on Saturdays with me. Here's to me keeping this hobby a constant!
