Giant Rubber Duck

elusivekThe newest, hottest, craziest, most-talked about craze over on this part of the world, or, Hong Kong, is Mr. Florentijn Hofman's Giant Rubber Duck.

Everything, everyone, everywhere is just talking about this duck. A couple of days ago, the Hong Kong SAR government officials did some "Cleaning Campaigne" and went out to the streets for cleaning (some sort of publicity event I guess). None of that went to the front pages of any of the newspapers (or most of). Guess who did? Yes, the Giant Rubber Duck.
I subscribe to a Hong Kong paid radio service and I was listening to a couple of their shows. Each and everyone of them talked about the duck. One of the shows actually played the Ernie Rubber Duck song too.
I heard the Duck was in the planning for a good 9 months already.
While I've lost my interest in going to actually see it (which I still will, on 1st June), it is amusing to see what a simple, yellow, rubber duck can do to people.
I think I actually saw this rubber duck when I was last in Osaka. Well, I did only see his butt (haha) because he was down along the river and I reached the section where I should go away from the river and so I left. Don't ask why I didn't make that short trek to see the actual thing... it would release a rant from me... haha
So, yeah. Newest craze here, Iron Man is out. It's now the Giant Rubber Duck.
