am I being diligent enough?
Sunday, 17 August 2014 08:35I'm here again! I should be able to read through part of my f-list today... Currently at the nail parlour waiting for this to dry :-)

I decided to go happy shiney color this time. It's summer and I'm going on holiday in 3 days!
So yesterday I put in an extra morning at work, but both the interviewees decided not to show up for the interview. The labor market really has turned this way. The labor have more say than the employer. It's making hiring an assistant a pain in the back, so much so, I'm not really putting my whole heart in it.
I'll see what the hiring manager says, and see if thru got more CVs. Apparently HR thinks I shouldn't review the CVs, I should just interview them all... Even so, I do have standards so I will continue to review the CVs as needed!!

Date: 2014-08-18 14:14 (UTC)The macau SAR government has implemented a "residents first" policy. Only residents can work in better-paying positions in a casino, such as dealers, pit managers, etc. All China import labor CANNOT work in a gaming environment. All other import labor will have to adhere to a 1:1 ratio. That is, for a company that has the capacity to employ 10 people, if it wants to employ import labor, the ratio has to be 1:1. So say you have 5 locals and 5 imports, if one of the local resigns, you HAVE to get rid of one of the import labor within a certain time frame. And don't even think of trying to fire a local. The company will always be in the wrong.
So it has sort of created this stupid environment where the locals think they are entitled to good jobs that pay well and they get to do nothing. It's stupid, ridiculous, and making it damn hard to hire anyone. They can sign the bloody contract, come in for one day, say they don't like the color of the wallpaper and decide to jump ship. There is such a thing as a blacklist bible, but no one dates to enforce it as you can't stop a local from getting a job, you SHOULD not take away a local's chance of employment.
I like to joke, if you are desperately looking for a job, find some macau resident, get married, get the resident ID card, then you are gold.
