I'm not really sure if I should make a set of resolutions or not. Resolutions are made to be broken, aren't they?

But I suppose I need something to look forward to and plan stuff around...

OK... So here is something for me to work on...

2016 Resolutions

Personal targets

  • Less splurges. Keep a budget. Monthly $5000 for personal spending inclusive of personal utilities. MOP$2000 for Dogs' medication. So that makes it MOP$7000 budget total.

  • Read more. 2015 Goodreads target of 20 books failed. Scale back, read 12 books in 2016 (one book a month).

  • Drink more water. Target 3 litres of water for the duration at work.

Fitness targets

  • Make full use of my gym plan. I'm entitled to go twice a week. Currently going only once a week. Target: go to the gym twice a week.

  • Schedule weekly Saturday badminton games with friends. Exercise more.

  • Reserve 2 nights a week for walking/running training.

  • Reach daily walking steps target 10,000 steps. Once stable, aim higher for 12,000. Walk more.

  • No more snacking after 10pm. If hungry, eat fruit.

Study targets

  • Actually spend time revising for Portuguese classes. Write more Portuguese entries. Practice Portuguese.

  • Get back into revising Japanese. Spend at least 3 hours a week on Japanese, be it reading, writing, blogging, etc.

So these 10 points should be easy enough to follow... Now for me to actually remember them... There should be an app for that, correct??

I haven't gone to the gym in like a month and I do need to start going again. It's usually not crowded, but I have a feeling they're going to be packed in January. Apparently that is the most popular month for gyms. Lol.

Ugh, unfortunately, it is. Luckily, it dies down by the end of January :D

Hah, I'm sure there is an app for that. Actually, I used to use Habit RPG, which I think does have an Android app at least. Sign me up for a book a month and weekly badminton games lol.

They all sound like good and manageable targets. Is that 5,000 Hong Kong dollars?

These sound like very reasonable goals. One of mine is to walk more and get back to my French studies. I find that I am missing the stimulation f working with another language.

One hint that works for me - print them out and hang them on the refrigerator or the front door or someplace where you see them all the time. That's what I have to do.

Good luck!

I need to get off my butt and make some goals too. But 2016 is so up in the air because of the moving and Little Pod, I have no clue...

Good luck on your goals!! They do seem very reasonable. :) I feel like breaking things into months (like, can I do x and maintain it for a month) is a bit more doable than thinking about it on a year-long scale and I've had more success with that.

I also should promise to practice more Portuguese...ahh it's hard to know which languages to prioritize 0_0;

The drinking water is a good one, too. I need to do that too but I hate the feeling of forced drinking of water...so bloated Dx I suppose your body will slowly get used to it, but that transition period...

I don't dare to make too complicated ones as I'm sure I'll either forget or find excuses... haha

I struggled a lot with the water thing in 2015. I used to drink like... just 2 cups of water throughout the day at work. I've now accustomed myself to drink at least 1 litre water, sometimes I can drink 2 litres. Now I'm aiming for 3 litres.

For me the difficulty is not in feeling bloated... it's actually finding the time and remembering to drink water. I figured if other people can get endless smoking breaks and coffee breaks, I should get my water breaks too! (well, one of the reasons)
