I read one of the reviews on Goodreads that said this book was somewhat like the X-men academy, which I thought was rather fitting. However, since I haven't really watched/followed much of X-Men, I didn't find this book repetitive or copy-cat-ish.

I thought this book was rather delightfully spooky. Before the big reveal, the photos were pretty much spooky and horror-inducing. However, after the big reveal, the spookiness of it all dissipates and turns into a standard adventure-esque story.

I enjoyed the book while it still had that spooky mysterious air to it. By the time the spookiness went away though, the characters have pretty much grown on me, especially Millard so it was easy for me to read on.

I already have book 2 on hand (I bought the boxed set) so I can continue the adventure now!
