(Miss Peregrine #1 Review)
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children was the surprise best seller of 2011—an unprecedented mix of YA fantasy and vintage photography that enthralled readers and critics alike. Publishers Weekly called it “an enjoyable, eccentric read, distinguished by well-developed characters, a believable Welsh setting, and some very creepy monsters.”
This second novel begins in 1940, immediately after the first book ended. Having escaped Miss Peregrine’s island by the skin of their teeth, Jacob and his new friends must journey to London, the peculiar capital of the world. Along the way, they encounter new allies, a menagerie of peculiar animals, and other unexpected surprises.
Complete with dozens of newly discovered (and thoroughly mesmerizing) vintage photographs, this new adventure will delight readers of all ages.

I wonder if it is because the novelty of the basis of the series has sort of worn off, the second book wasn't as exciting as the first.
I suppose another reason would be the overall mysterious spooky element is almost non-existent in this book.
I'll probably have to go read again both books 1 and 2 again to grasp a better understanding on the Loops, but somewhere in the middle of it, it just doesn't add up.
Perhaps I'm also being influenced by some other comments I read, but this book 2 feels as if, nothing really happened plot-wise, we are just being led around a story that is trying to link up a series of photos....
One tiny little inconceivable happening at the end of the book made me go all WTF!? (mobile phone-related) but I'll let it slide and see if by book 3 it explains much.
I'll skip book 3 for now as I'll be going on holiday soon and do not plan to carry a dead tree book in my trip. I'll read something on my Kindle for now until after my trip (mid-October).
