Punctuality

Not sure why these days I keep thinking about the past, or the past just suddenly pops up in my mind.

Recently I thought about my warped sense of punctuality. I'm always punctual. At least 10 minutes early, always, unless I've booked myself back-to-back then I'd be late, but I usually try to avoid that.

When traveling, I need to know where everything is. Say tomorrow I have to go to a train station to take a train, then I need to know TODAY already where the hell the train station is. So that I won't be late for the train tomorrow.

I guess I drive some of my friends up the wall with this.

As a kid, my parents used to take me to school. I'd wake up, be ready by 7.30, and tell my parents "I can go now!" and they would all just "there's a lot of time!" and keep dithering around until 7.55 and then I'd arrive to school late. Then the school teachers/principal would ask me "why are you late?" and I reply "I was ready but my parents made me late". The teachers just laugh and say "Don't blame others for what you have done wrong" WTF.

And ever since I was old enough, I walked to school. I made damn sure I was early enough. School started at 8 and I made sure I arrived at 7.15 goddammit!!!!!!!!!

And that is my warped up sense of punctuality. I have my parents to thank.

i'm the opposite. chronically late for almost everything. i was discussing this with my partner the other day, and how i thought i'd improved lately, and he was like "holy shit, how bad was it BEFORE then?!" -_-

my parents always prefer to be insanely early for things. like, embarrassingly early. they took me to a play once and we showed up 2 hours ahead of time. we had to wait in the lobby FOREVER. a whole other play happened in the time between our arrival and the time of the actual one we came to see.

My old orchestra teacher would be like, "To be early, is on time. To be on time, is to be late." And I've always followed that. Haha.

I make my fellow theatre friends crazy with my need to be early. They have finally gotten used to it as has my poor husband. This is why we arrive super early at the airport when it's time to fly somewhere. And that has been to our advantage more than once.

I also arrive 5-10 minutes early to everything. Then I get annoyed and anxious while I wait for everyone else to show up!

talking about punctuality, i have a secondary school friend who always has gatherings at his house. usually i'm the 1st one there but even though i try to come late (so as not to be the 1st), i'm still the 1st one there lol
