Life updates
Sunday, 30 October 2016 08:46Just received a message that an uncle in Austria has passed away.
He's the uncle whom I always send a postcard to in my travels. It was pretty hard in his last days but I heard he was given some pain killing fumes (drugs, whatever) so he passed peacefully. He will be missed.
Ah, so I went for my first German class. In some ways it was a disaster, and in other ways not.
Disaster: I'm probably very much behind the syllabus but I plan to work on that this week. I can't even string a complete sentence and they are on the partizip already.
Not disaster: I seem to be the only one who understands the teacher when he speaks in German (and the others have been learning with the guy for almost a year). Also, although I can't seem to recall the correct German vocabulary, but when the teacher provides the vocab and asks what that is, I know it. It's like I actually know it, I can't say it, but I recognise it when I see it.
The commute to Hong Kong for the class isn't half that bad, I think I know the shortcuts by now. Made a new friend and she invited me for a Dim Sum lunch with her husband. However that derailed my plans for the day in Hong Kong so I'll have to re-plan a few things for the next class.
So the week will now have to be planned around my almost daily running (I can run longer without stopping now!) and revision revision and self-learning many of the German tenses.
Which means the first thing I'm going to do this morning is procrastinate home chores and finish up that travel log book then I can concentrate on German.
Doctor Strange this afternoon. Is it good? I saw a skit Benedict did with one of the talk show hosts (one or the other Jimmy or Jeremy or whatever) and I thought it might lean on the boring side.
The Lusofonia is going on right now and I've already been there for the Caipirinha and the Sangria. One of the stalls made a killer chocolate cake too!
