Back-dated Friday Five
Sunday, 4 December 2016 17:24I'm not going to do all that I missed, but here are some of the missed ones:
Friday 11-November
1. What is your favorite food to eat prepared by someone else (parent, spouse, friend, etc.)?
I remember back in the day when we had "Chinese Mutts" (non-breed dogs, yellow in color and look like Dingos), my mom used to make a killer pork liver stir-fry. She only made that for the dogs, but sometimes when we had no food, she'd take the liver that was intended for the dogs and do the same fry for us. Imagine, stir fried pork liver with bayleaves.
Now, years later, my mom tried to make that once, but it wasn't what it was anymore :'(
2. How many times a day do you typically eat?
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, so 3 times.
3. How often do you cook for yourself?
Shamefully, perhaps some 3-weeks a year, when the parents are off gallivating the world.
4. I wish I ate more:______________________
Organic food which aren't available here. The concept of organic hasn't spread here yet. I think we can get some organic stuff in Hong Kong.
5. If I want a "real breakfast," I:_______________________
Not really sure what "real breakfast" is trying to mean here. But a "real treat" for a breakfast for me would be McDonald's Hotcakes. Of course, if some restaurant or another served real pancakes (the american type) then I'd choose THAT over the McDs version.
Friday 18-November
1. What is your favorite 'food' holiday?
None of them, really, because all "food" holidays seem to be hosted by us at our home, and I'm sick and tired of all these hosted gatherings.
2. Do you prefer ham or turkey (or tofu turkey)?
Ham. Turkey is usually overcooked and dry. Ham, even overcooking it, doesn't get too dry.
3. Do you anticipate or dread seeing your relatives for the holidays?
I don't mind seeing them per se, but as mentioned in #1, it's a dread being the host.
4. When do you start listening to Christmas carols (for real, you can tell us)?
I draw the line at December. We don't really celebrate Thanksgiving, and we see shops selling Christmas stuff in October already, but anyway, even though some say "after Thanksgiving is Christmas", and despite it being just one week to December, I still draw the line there. So it's not OK to start listening to Christmas songs on 30-November, but it's OK to do so on 1-December.
For me at least.
5. How are you feeling right now with regards to the upcoming holiday season?
Busy. Not enough time. Didn't buy all the presents yet. And the party is coming. It's a Sunday, I have no rest day on Monday. Argggh (for some reason we host the Christmas dinner on Christmas Day, not Christmas Eve)
