I have a long weekend as 1-Oct is China National Day.

And I made these few nights movie nights. Well, not really. Just 2 consecutive nights of JP movies.

Friday night I went with friends to watch “When I get home, my wife always pretends to be dead.” It was an interesting movie. Like many JP movies I know, the “secret” is kept a secret and open to the viewer’s interpretation. The myriad of ways that the wife stages her death are hilarious, and now I want a fake crocodile with a sun hat. Haha!

Saturday night I watched “blank-13.” I was expecting it to be a tearjerker but it wasn’t (at least for me). Watched due to a friend’s recommendation but I didn’t see the charm. Well... my friend had some stakes in that as she was the one to recommend this movie be brought in. She’s a big fan of the main male character (the son). Well anyway, “favor” done so I’ll leave it at that.

Before the movies, they showed some trailers and I’m contemplating watching “the extraordinary journey of Fakir” (or some name along the names of that). The trailer made it look very funny. There were a few other movies but they looked boring (to me) but I guess they were showcasing some big name director or other (Alice Rohrwacher?) that won awards at the Cannes.

Oh and yeah that cinema I went to don’t show hit blockbuster movies.

That’s where they showed Loving Vincent (the Van Gogh painting movie) and many other indie or more artistic movies.

I think it’s good to have such cinemas, but admittedly they may make less business than the ones showing blockbusters, so hopefully it’s here to stay!

Indeed, that was pretty entertaining. Give it some time, maybe you can stream it on facebook. I was looking for a trailer of some other movie (I forgot which now) and what came out was actually the full length movie. I think I did the search on Facebook.
