I was gifted 2 (bootleg) Lego cars a couple years ago. My cousin had the bright idea to gift me those after I mentioned a friend saying that the Lego Mini Cooper was very well done. As Legos are super expensive, I guess he managed to find bootleg version "Lepin" haha. I've already made the VW Beetle and you can see it here.

With nothing much going on, and wanting to free up some of my cupboard space, I decided to bring out the second car, the Mini Cooper and work on it. (I have to say though, after putting it together, I need a larger space to display it, so, so much for trying to free up space *rolls eyes*)

This time around I managed to finish it quicker. The following instructions and putting it together isn't the hard part, the hard part was looking for the specific pieces. If I had a big working space, I probably would sort out the pieces by color and type. I managed to finish this in 3 sittings, yesterday all afternoon and night, and then today all morning and a better part of the afternoon after lunch.

Look at the details! You can lift up the hood and doors. This one is a convertible, so they made it easy to remove the top as well, but I didn't bother shooting a photo of it that way.

Like the VW Beetle, where it had a missing piece, there was a faulty piece for the Mini. I was hoping it was a spare and didn't need it, but alas, perhaps due to being bootleg Lego, they had no spares. And had I known, I would have used that faulty piece in a less conspicuous location. By the time I reached that part, I didn't have the patience to go back and change out the other piece. I'll just display the car from the other side, haha!

Again, look at the details! You can open the trunk, take the basket out and lift the inner flooring to access the spare tire! This really amused me a lot while I have putting this together.

Wanna go for a picnic? But I'll just keep the blanket, bottle and basket inside the trunk.

Now, I have to look for a proper display case, be it glass or acrylic or plastic. I just took the VW Beetle out and it's so dusty!
