First part are questions from [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive

Out with 2020, In with 2021!

1. What was the best thing about 2020?
It's probably not a popular opinion, but with all the quarantines, isolations, work hiatus, and all that, I've actually learnt to take better care of myself and built up a "I don't really have to give a F" attitude.

2. What lessons from 2020 will you carry into 2021?
Pre-2020, I'd been an overly workaholic person. I'd make myself available for all work calls all times of the days, make sure I adhere to the attendance schedule, but still work extra hours on off days. Granted, I'm still that way, but I've cut myself some slack on the attendance schedule part. I'm off today, but I have to work? Fine. I'll just get off work earlier tomorrow or get into work a little later another day.

3. How did you spend your New Year's Eve?
Went to have lunch with a friend, hung around in town, went to the Te Deum.

4. Legend says what you did at midnight on New Year's Eve/Day is what you'll do all year. So what did you do?
Vegans and Vegetarians calm down. I do not go looking for goose liver to eat. However, when you live with the parents, and the parents hog the kitchen, you get 0 chance to plan your own meals, so I just eat what I'm served. Dad made goose liver on toast. If I'm not mistaken, the goose liver was from a charity barbecue thing Dad did for his Culinary Association thing back in November, and they had a lot of leftover food; however the hotels cannot use these leftover food (food safety requirement). So Dad brought a lot of these essentially free food home and threw them in a huge freezer that we have. Actually the roast beef served during Christmas was also from that, and it was delicious! The goose liver this time wasn't bad, but I was never particularly fond of goose liver (too oily). We just sat around drinking Baileys and snacking on the goose liver toast and pistachio nuts.

5. What are you most looking forward to in 2021?
I guess it's futile to wish for "everything to return to normal" because I think it won't. Any travel will probably only be reinstated maybe in 2022. I guess I should look forward to the continuation of a more flexible work schedule and me-time.

Second part are questions from F.riday5.com

1. What’s better in its middle than in its edges, beginnings, or ends?
Definitely not a toast bread nor pizza coz what I really like are the edges LOL. Gee... I really don't know. I think the cliche answer to this is a good book?

2. Why is a sunrise better than a sunset?
It's the beginning of the day so you know you have a full day ahead to get things done.

3. What’s better in retrospect than when you experienced it?
Secondary/High school. Well, I didn't NOT enjoy it when I was in secondary/high school, but I guess teenagers are teenagers and anything they are forced to do (school) are reluctant to say it's good anyway. But now that I think back on it, I guess I had a relatively lot of freedom. School finished at 4, but I'd play sports with friends until 6 and go home, have dinner, homework, and bed. Life was structured, I had time for hobbies, and of course there wasn't this heavy responsibility!

But I have to say I much prefer my life now (independence is gold) so, I wouldn't wish to turn back time.

4. What songs have wonderful endings?
Not sure about wonderful, but I've always been somewhat, amazed? Not really, but I guess, respected the ending of 奥井雅美Okui Masami's  輪舞Revolution Rondo Revolution* wherein it says something like "but if the world separates us, I promise you, I'll change the world!" Here's the song with an English Sub

* you need to type it as "rinbu" for that kanji (Chinese characters) to come up, and many English websites call that song "Rinbu Revolution" but officially the song name has Furigana (a set of words that tell you how to read the kanji) that says it reads "Rondo Revolution".

I'm sure there are many songs that have great endings and I'm kind of feeling bummed I can only think of songs from my teenage times. I feel so childish now. But... moving on!

5. What was the first thing you unwrapped in 2021?
Well, I finished the toilet paper when I was doing my business this morning so I had to unwrap a new roll of toilet paper and put it on the... toilet paper holder thing. LOL. Very important task!
