I had plans to bring the dogs to the vet yesterday for their cartophren shots, and also for Nutmeg for her actual shots (erm, I have no idea what shot that is, only know we must get it for a cat). But then Mom got a call from the home owner's group/association thing that they are sending some guys to fix something on our verandah (because that thing serves as the entire building's drainage system, so it's the group responsibility and not just ours). Mid-way through the afternoon the guys didn't come, so Mom called them again and they said we misunderstood, that they were coming the following day. It was too late to make the appointment at the vet already, and since now they confirm it's the next day, we can't book for the next day either... so it's next week.

Kitty being Kitty. She'd snuggle and rub and be all happy that you are petting her but she will turn around and scratch you if you pet her just a nano-mili-second more than she wants.

Since the sun was already on its way to setting (so it was hardly sunny at all), I decided to work on a couple of my plants.

I re-potted my Suehime and my African Violets. Lovely pots. Then I looked at my Sis' Suehime and hers have flowers budding! Mine still hadn't got any buds, but it keeps growing new leaves. The lady wasn't joking, she said I'd need to constantly comb through the leaves and trim if it gets too crowded.

My Nerveplant was looking rather droopy the last 2 days. Since my Sis helped me re-pot it, it just seemed to be on a steady road to death. So I did some reading, and I was thinking maybe the soil was overwatered and suffocating the leaves. I took everything out, and indeed the soil was so so so so wet, it wasn't draining. So I tried to dry the soil a bit and then repotted it with dry soil and just let it be, not adding more water. Today it seems like the leaves look better. I don't know if it's just my imagination or what though. I'll give it a couple more days and see if it recovers.

This plant, I remember I got it over 10+ ears ago and had it in my office. It was just a table plant. Well, I almost killed it, so brought it home and Dad managed to save it. It's now this humongous plant. It's winter so the leaves have fallen off, but in the summer Dad actually got flowers on it. It's now huge and can't be a table plant anymore.

After being a hobby gardener for the afternoon, I sat down for some cookies, tea and continue reading my current book. Should be able to finish this book within this week if I continue with this speed.

Aaaannnndd..... in the evening, after dinner and dog walk, I went to play badminton with some friends. There were only 3 of us, so it was a 2-against-1 thing, by rotation. The funny thing was, I had informed them it was at this one particular sports centre, and yet one of them went to the wrong one. I did manage to book next week's court at our usual sports centre, and fingers crossed, I'll be able to continue booking courts there. But anyway, this new place is a backup for us. My friend and I want to buy new badminton rackets, but I said I will only buy if I manage to play 5 weeks of badminton consecutively.

The synthetic or rubber on my racket's handle was disintegrating as we played last night LOL, so today I went to buy those handle wraps and just did a cheap quick-fix. I actually failed it because apparently this wrap didn't require any overlap over the previous row, so I was around a quarter of an inch short. Bah, this is just a quick fix, if I really play badminton for 5 weeks without fail I'll buy a new racket anyway!

And since my friend was laughing at my (aged) yellowed shuttlecocks, I bought new ones for next week. To get to that sports equipment place, I walked past this small building. This is the "newspaper reading" station. Technically it's a library (of sorts), but mainly people go there to read newspapers. We call it the "Octagon Pavilion" (八角亭).

Oh yeah, after the game of badminton last night, my friend asked me to go to her home and she gave me a late birthday present. She already had dinner with me last week, but she didn't finish making the present... it's HANDMADE! LOOK AT THIS!

It's a hand-made incense burner in the shape of Totoro! I shouldn't say incense burner as the plate above is not deep enough for those aroma diffuser rocks or oil. This is for tea leaves, and you light a candle to heat it up to make it smell sweetly of tea leaves. I put some of my expensive green tea leaves and it smells wonderful! But those were expensive green tea, so I won't always use that. I'm thinking of looking for some of my expired tea and use those instead. I wonder if other teas that aren't green tea would smell so nicely as well.

I wanted to get some Yoga done this morning and of course Frankie comes along, but isn't cooperative for Doga either. In the end I just plopped him on my bed.

It's still early-ish afternoon but I can't go anywhere because those guys are here fixing the verandah, so Mom wants us around to help keep an eye on the and keep an eye on the dogs. A little later when the guys are gone (I assume after 4 or 5pm) I might go for a 5km run, but we'll see. It IS almost 4pm now and it doesn't look like they are anywhere near done.
