Harry Potter Fandom and a smattering of other things
Saturday, 1 May 2021 21:13First off, this is showing off. Ooops I did it again! I said no toys, but LOL
Draco Malfoy!!!!! My pretty boy!!
What happened was, I was out window shopping with my Sis, walking around when I toy store was having a sale on their Qposket dolls. And it was cheeeaaapppppp. I grabbed a Sailor Jupiter, and my Sis joked that "now you have to collect them all!", but I said no, coz, I have no space for that, so I would only buy the characters I like.
And then, I saw there was a Fred Weasley doll, there was a Ron Weasley doll, there was a Severus Snape doll, but there was no Draco Malfoy. I got annoyed. Well. But it was on discount, so maybe it got sold out? AND IT WAS THEN! That I decided, I would get a Draco Malfoy doll. We walked 6 other such toy stores that did not have a sale going on, and one other that even had marked up and selling at a higher price, but alas, still no Draco Malfoy. I finally decided to cave and go on Taobao. And here it is! But I suspect that the Taobao store sent me a pirated/bootlegged version, the scarf colors aren't colored properly, but anyway, it's a doll to stand there and collect dust anyway. My Mom will kill me if she finds out I've descretated the alter for Mary with these toys LOL.
Hm... so... Harry Potter. I haven't actually finished reading the books. Book 1 was very good. Book 2 was good too. But then Book 3 started to taper off. I think I stopped when I finished Order of the Phoenix. Movies as well, I don't think I watched anything after Goblet of Fire. I started to find the length of the book ridiculous. And although I didn't read nor watched the books or movies, I more or less know the happenings, through spoilers or reading enough FanFiction to know what is probably canon and what is fanon.
My contribution to this fandom is... a couple of drawing LOL. I'm looping back to Deviantart to see what I have.
I guess this is my... I don't know how to call it, my best contribution. Super cute! Even I say so myself, and I'm not embarrassed by it. HPxDM forevaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh LOL ok I'll stop fangirling.
And then it's just some random stuff. The Ginny actually looks not bad, I think. I was so proud of the Hermione and Hogwarts one back then but now, looking at it I can only cringe.
Looking through my Deviantart, meh... I HAD SO MUCH FREE TIME BACK THEN! And yes, I remember, if we are talking about 2005... of course I had a lot of free time then. It was the time when there was some departmental wars and I was in the middle so I spent months without really belonging to any department and had heaps of free time.
Hey hold on wait a minute, this was supposed to be a Harry Potter post. What am I doing writing about that? SO!
Yeah. I kind of like the Harry Potter in the Fanon world more than Canon. My Draco needs redemption!
Aaaaannnnnddd! Let me share some happy shopping!
I boughtyet another fountain pen LOL sorry. But I'm looking for the perfect grip and nib. I think I like the Japanese EF nibs, but they are hard to come by. Montegrappa is Italian, I think, and they had an EF nib, and I think it's OK, but the pen itself is a bit too thick so I don't have a good grip. Also, I bought this from a Taiwanese website, so I wasn't reading too well about the House Colors of the pens. Honestly, none of the pens actually looked good, but out of them all, I chose the Ravenclaw color pen. But after they dispatched my order did I see there was actually a combo of 4 house colors, i.e. the Hogwarts pen. Nah. Not going to buy another. Besides... I was really looking to buy....
The inks! Ravenclaw Blue was the only ink I wanted, but it was out of stock, but it didn't have the option for me to order and wait. The only other way was to buy a pen, then choose "add full set inks" and that's what I did. This way, they contacted me to say they were out of Ravenclaw Blue and Knightbus Purple, but that they can wait until they restock to send my order. So wait I did.
I used those glass dip pens so the ink control isn't very good, so probably that's why the colors aren't showing, but the Ravenclaw Blue is the color that made me want to get it no matter what. But now seeing this color test, I'm actually surprised that the Hufflepuff Yellow is so pigmented and visible. I have another yellow ink that's hardly visible. Also, the Slytherin Green looks good too. I'm also always on a quest to look for the blackest black ink. So far it was the Piano Black (from a company that I forgot the name of), and I compared it with the Thestral Black, and it seems that it holds up rather well too. I also tried out the Mango Ink Ume that I bought the other week but didn't try out yet, so I tested it together. The dip pen took too much ink, so I couldn't really tell the color. I'll need to clean one actual pen to try it.
And THAT, is the extent of my Harry Potter craze. LOL

Date: 2021-05-04 00:06 (UTC)I've been wanting to do a Harry Potter reread for awhile. I haven't read them all since probably highschool. I did read the play a probably over 5 years ago now.
