It was a busy week, but I've got a good post for later too.
Let me deal with the Friday Fives first :-)

Questions from [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive

1. What's your favorite color this week?
I don't know. I've always been partial to purples and the minty greens (aquamarine?) I do have my manicure this month as a minty green too!

2. What job would be very unsuitable for you?
Any customer facing job. Well... I don't know. I probably could (if I'm thrown into it), but if you ask me to choose, I'd never choose a front facing position.

3. What's your favorite Olympic sport?
I don't really watch much Olympics. I watch if it happens to show on TV and I'll stop and watch for a bit, but I do not have any favorites.

4. Have you ever found yourself stuck out in the rain?
Oh how many times? LOL

5. What does the tooth fairy do with our teeth?
Not part of my culture growing up, so I have nothing to say about that :-)

And then it's questions from F.riday5.com

1. What word do you love the sound of?
I don't know. I have no idea? erm.... Laissez-faire? I remember at Uni we learnt that in a Business class and we just loved saying that as "Less Affair" LOL (I know it's an imported word from the French language)

2. What word do you hate the sound of?
Again, I dunno. Bureacracy maybe? It's language, how can you like or hate a sound of it? LOL

3. What word do you always have to look up because you can’t remember how to spell it correctly?
There's loads of such words, but I'll stick to the seemingly easier ones. Queue. Because I always wonder if it's Qeueu or Queue. And then certain words as they change from noun/adjective/adverb/whatever. Like, it's "to pronounce" a word, but it's "a pronunciation" of a word (I keep trying to spell it pronounciation), also maintain vs. maintenance (I keep trying to spell it maintainence). Oh and having an English education but the world seemingly using American system, parlor/parlour, color/colour and so on and so forth always gets me too.

4. What are some individual words to describe this past week?
Busy. Hectic. Manic.

5. What’s a word you know that many people don’t?
That's easy and at the same time tough. The general public don't really have a thorough English education, so they may not know many rather complicated English words, but I've found that the people of the older generation here, despite never seemingly to speak English, are able to write in really beautiful flowy complicated English. But, the bar I'm basing on is the general public, and they don't know a lot of English, or even if they know, they don't know certain less-commonly-used vocabularies. And one of those that I love is...... lackadaisical. Don't know why I like it so much. I suppose it's also somewhat influenced by that quote that "If the English language made any sense, then lackadaisical would mean something like lacking flowers" hahaha.

"Lacking flowers." I love it. This SHOULD be the meaning of that word!

Love the nails!

Nothing regarding baby teeth in your culture? You just dumped them in the garbage?

Essentially yes. There’s no big hoo-haa of it being a bonding experience of pulling out the first loose tooth (string to slamming door, etc.). Have a loose tooth? Wait till it falls out or go to the dentist. Usually the dentist handles the tooth but we can ask to get it back. It was more for curiosity and looking at it, but otherwise, it’s just thrown out. No tooth under pillow and turning into money thing.

Nowadays though, maybe because people see more of these incidences on TV so I see some acquaintances doing that on Facebook.

Though let me add to it that when I extracted my 4 wisdom teeth, I did keep them, just for the sake of keeping them, because it was a long procedure spanning over 1.5years. However, I say I’ve kept them, but really I don’t remember where I’ve kept them at hahaha

Yes, please feel free to add me on LJ and Goodreads. I’ll have to say I haven’t watched anything of supernatural so I’ll go ahead and add your comm too.

Weeelllll, I have no connection to Japan except for the fact that I was a huge gaming nerd as a kid and managed to learn hiragana and katakana just for the sake of playing RPGs LOL. And then when the chance came in University I took Japanese as the foreign language study required. I’ve since graduated but haven’t kept up with my Japanese studies, but at least I can understand enough with a dictionary.

I also like traveling to Japan but since COVID I’ve just been stuck in town not able to go anywhere.

Awesome<3

That's so cool. I'm Canadian but have basically lived in Japan all my life and I will say that Japanese people love that their culture is loved and enjoyed like that overseas. So, thank you on their behalf (LOL)

Yeah, it's hard not being able to go anywhere :'(
