The city is in high alert again because some import laborer tested positive for Covid. Once again, the government issued a mandate for all residents, workers, basically anyone currently staying in Macau, to go get tested in 3 days. However, they have not issued a mandate to close public facilities. Schools have closed though.
It must be a very difficult time for students now. I would hate doing online coursework.
Speaking of coursework, I've finally finished the Coursera course i was in for the longest of times... Magic in the Middle Ages. All interesting stuff. Actually helped me understand some Anime and Harry Potter magic theory from that. I don't need the certificate because... I don't see myself needing a certificate for that in order to enhance my career hahaha. This was really just me being nosy about the topic.
I went for my full body check up yesterday. Went well enough. No condescending doctors this time. It was an ok experience. It was a first full body check up inclusive of an ob/gyn study as well. Still waiting for the doctor reports, but the blood test results have come up in the hospital app already.
For blood work, I have everything but 1 item within normal ranges. I have a high MPV (just popped over the upper limit). I know I have to see a doctor to get an explanation of the results, but as I said, I'm nosy, so I looked up the MPV to get a better understanding. Then I read some scary stuff about high MPV and low platelet counts or high platelet counts and I decided to just wait for the doctor's report LOL. But I suspect it's because I've recently started exercising more... but again, wait for the doctor.
I didn't know that this package did not check for cholesterol, so I'm a bit bummed about it.
For urine work, I also have everything in normal except for the KET reading that I am double positive, where the normal range is negative. Double positive, so it's very high? Apparently it's something to do with Keto/Ketosis so I suspect it's because I've been limiting my carbs intake. But it's not like I've absolutely cut out carbs. I definitely don't consume bread for breakfast anymore, but for lunch, when I order from the western menu and it comes with a bread roll, I'd eat it. And anything with potatoes, French fries, spaghetti, I would eat that too. For dinner I tend to skip the potatoes and plain white rice, but when Dad serves spaghetti or fried rice, then there's no avoiding them. Again, wait for the doctor report.
As the Soap workshop place I go to just got granted by the Education Department their status as part of the "continuing education fund scheme", I went on the website to check out some courses, and just so happened to find out the place that I did German 2 years ago, have started with the German courses again! I've already enrolled, and hopefully my other old classmates would enroll too. We need more people so the levels can go on. This level is still the same last level I did 2 years ago, but I've decided to take it like a review course for myself. I might even learn new things. Hopefully people decide to continue, then finally, they can start Level 4 by then.
The continuing education fund scheme is another of the government's attempt to do the "wealth sharing thing". Every resident 18 years (or is that 21? I forget) and over get MOP$6000 for 3 years and can enroll in any of the approved classes or institutions as "continuing education". That's why kids don't get it (it's assumed they are in school). This is the 3rd round for that already. I did an Adobe Illustrator course almost 10 years ago, did a dog behavior course, and then German in the 2nd round and now I'm doing soap and German in the 3rd round. It's getting easier to find a course with vacancy now because many people have used up their allotted funds already... some courses are really hard to register for because people just flock and register immediately.
I'm pretty happy with my progress in running. I've given up and decided not to join the mini marathon (4.5km) this December. My original goal was to join the half-marathon, but I've been lazing too much the past 3 months. I've lost all my progress and stamina. I started running last week, and I couldn't even do a 1km without stopping or slowing down for breath. Today was my 4th run, and finally I'm able to run 2km before having to slow down, and I was also able to complete a 5km. I would like to see myself being able to do a 10km again.
