Austrian National Day!

It's the Austrian National Day today!

I don't know the history, I don't know the innings and outings of what happened and why... this is so shameful!

I'm here only for the food. I eventually have to repost these photos for this week's GAMD challenge, but since today's menu is special, here's a first view! Dad served a Knœdelsuppe (dumpling soup) and Wiener Schnitzel with tomato salad. The semolina dumplings were still raw, the schnitzel should have been OK, but because my German class has (finally) started and I did not want to miss the first class, so I got home really late and had cooled down schnitzel instead, and that was tough. (My original plan was to skip today as it was supposed to be the 5th class).

Then Dad served an Apfelstrudel that was yummy, and the wine tonight was a Portuguese apple flavored white wine. Sweet, easy to the palate.

I also went to the dentist this morning and the guy has stuck 2 nails or nibs or whatever on my teeth, and gave me my apparatus. I have it on right now. I can't close my mouth fully. I don't mind it that much, but because of my mouth being half open, I'm salivating like mad, and that's annoying.

I'm just going to bed... so that tomorrow comes sooner and I can remove that thing!

I visited Austria and I have to admit, I thought the people there were racist. They were not friendly at ALL to us, and they stared like we had three horns on our head. I did not enjoy it.

I am so sorry you had that experience. As I have a darker skin, some Austrians mistake me for a Thai mix or something. My sister is white and fair like usual Austrians. I remember playing with some kids when I was small and they called the 2 of us choco-banana cereal. Kids can be mean.

I haven't had a proper Schnitzel for ages, I don't know why I didn't have one last time I went back to Germany. I get Apfelstrudel most years at the Christmas markets although sometimes I get different flavours.
