Long overdue update
Saturday, 7 May 2022 17:56Ack... sorry, life has been busy, and while it doesn't seem like I'm super busy, by the time I sit down and intend to write something, it's super late, I'm tired, and all that.
Oh, so one of the fancier hotels in town had been hosting monthly Cheese Nights. This is the third Cheese Night they're hosting, and it's British Cheese. We had some really nice cheddar but the best was still the Stilton. Paired with a champagne, a white and a red. It was a lovely night. A very commonwealth night, LOL, the Cheese was Brit and the wines were Ozzie. The clientele of that night, too, were mostly the English or Australian expats in town. I hear the next Cheese Night will feature Portuguese Cheese… hm… yum!
My wrist was acting up again, so I went to another Chiropractor. I thought the private hospital doctor would be a better choice, but it was so obvious he was just bluffing the diagnosis, and throw in a "if it doesn't help, go get an MRI done". I've meanwhile got 2 more private Chinese Medicine "Bonesetters" or Chiropractor referrals, so after this course of "put this gel and then place this medicated bandage over" treatment from the hospital, I'm going to one of these private bonesetters. As for what is wrong, it's nothing serious. I've been a bit more serious with my workouts and noticed I couldn't do a push up on my left hand because the wrist hurts when I put weight on it, so any planks, push ups, it hurts. There was one yoga pose where I have to reverse and place the back of my hand on the ground, and I just can't put weight on it.
It's Max's physio day so we went there again this morning. Frankie accompanied him in his last session, and the therapists loved him. They wanted to see Menina too, so I brought her there. She was, of course, a lot more calm than Frankie LOL. The therapists were amazed with her overall condition at 17 years of age.
Oh yeah, I snagged a mini bedside table thing from Taobao the other day. I had a rather flimsy rack thing that kept falling apart because my handbag and the shortlisted piano books were too heavy... so I went heavy duty and got something made of wood. It's supposed to have 3 levels of drawers, but as I wanted the bottommost space for the piano books and my briefcase, I dismantled the bottom parts, and kept only the topmost drawer. The space in the middle is where my handbag of time would be placed overnight. This way I can have easy access to my wallet and/or stuff inside. It had a top layer as well, so that's where the water and body lotion would go. I'm pretty happy with this thing, and I'm happy to say I can put furniture together. The instructions from this Taobao thing is nothing like IKEA and Lego instructions. Took me a bit of time to figure it out.
Last but not least, today's lunch... delicious! This is a special herbal soup base chicken noodles. It's got a bit of Chinese white wine in it. It was so flavorful, usually I just eat the noodles and forget about the soup base, but this one, I had to have the noodles with some soup in every bite. I finished the whole thing... and now I'm feeling sorry for myself (because I'm full)... but... no regrets! It was good!
